It' s a scare strategy. The broker houses wanted to buy themselves, and they want you to sell it to them.

SIA price has risen about 2.3% since it hit the low of 7.15 on 30 June. According to STB,  tourist arrivals have hit 12 million in June. This almost breached its target of 12-14 million set earlier.  Taylor Swift alone is expected to attract tens of  thousand of visitors to Singapore.  Is the broker houses correct when they predicted SIA is going to hit 6.80?  https://skyjuiceiswater3.blogspot.com/2023/06/temasek-holdings-selling-400-million.html   |

Thanks Joelton for the usual update. " The new target price of $6.53 is pegged to 1.04x P/BV." Another analyst view. With this figures, book value is abt $6.27. It seems reasonable when one considers the state in Air India and growing headwinds. Assuming eps in 23/24 fy improve to 0.42 and price at $6.53, p/e ratio 15.5.  Less ex.

The current special dividend is providing a support for SIA shares now, I believe. Ex-dividend May see it fall below $7.
That said, strongly believe sia earnings is gonna stay solid moving forward, so many flights around and tix are not cheap, you and me can go and verified ourselves. More famous celeb concerts coming up, means more international visitors flying over. June/July is China/Taiwan sch break, many mainland tourists in sg, just take a look at rws on a non peak period ie Monday. Cargo side will as usual be weaker due to more alternatives. But pax side should remain strong I believe. Just hope they don?t tie to any India subsi bullshit that need to pay fine or losses. Good for investors for long term holders ie retirement if you collect below $6. Else short term trader May wan to run before special dividend ex |

CGS-CIMB downgrades SIA to ' reduce' on valuation grounds, flags stiffer competition in coming FY2025.
Singapore Airline&rsquo s outlook for the current year remains &ldquo very strong&rdquo . However, given the recent run-up in its share price, CGS-CIMB&rsquo s Raymond Yap has joined a growing list of analysts to downgrade the stock on valuation grounds.

At end of July 3, SIA closed at $7.33, up 33.52% year to date &ndash and which has overshot Yap&rsquo s earlier $6.15 price target with a &ldquo hold&rdquo call.

As such, Yap has in his July 3 research note cut his call to &ldquo reduce&rdquo while raising his target price to $6.53.
For the current FY2024 ending March 2024, the airline, by many indications, is still flying high from the post-pandemic recovery.

The airline&rsquo s passenger load factor remains &ldquo very strong&rdquo at a historical high of around 88% for April and May &ndash two of the more recent months with data available.

&ldquo These high load factors suggest that average ticket pricing is also likely to remain at very high levels, as SIA has no issue filling up its planes and hence has no incentive to cut prices,&rdquo writes Yap.

&ldquo We think that passengers are likely to plan forward and book ahead for the year-end holidays, as well as for Lunar New Year travel in early-2024. These forward bookings at the current high ticket prices will likely extend SIA&rsquo s run of strong profitability for FY24F, in our view,&rdquo he adds.

However, Yap warns that competition could intensify in the coming FY2025, as other airlines join SIA in restoring capacity further.

Between late-Jun and late-Oct 2023, forward airline schedules suggest that SIA will only increase its seat capacity restoration by 3% pts (against 2019), compared to +12.1% pts for Cathay Pacific, +8.2% pts for other southeast Asian carriers, +7.8% pts for Korean carriers, and +7% pts for Australian carriers, notes Yap.

He figures that SIA&rsquo s seat capacity restoration is now slowing down. First, seat capacity is already at a high level. Next, deliveries of SIA&rsquo s 787-10 orders have been delayed and last but not least, regulators in Indonesia and China, two major markets, are taking longer than expected to give their go-ahead for flights to further resume.

&ldquo On the balance of probability, SIA&rsquo s competitors will likely continue to restore their seat capacities at a faster pace than SIA next year because they still have so much potential, especially Cathay Pacific and the Chinese airlines,&rdquo reasons Yap.

For example, Cathay Pacific has set a target to restore 70% of its 2019 available seat km capacity by end of 2023, and 100% by end-2024 Chinese airlines so far appear to be reticent in international capacity restoration, this could very well change in the future if Chinese outbound travel demand picks up, adds Yap.
He notes that SIA is now trading at 1.3 historical price to book value, almost 3 standard deviations above the mean since 2011.

The new target price of $6.53 is pegged to 1.04x P/BV.

The shares will trade ex-dividend on Aug 1, following which entitled shareholders will receive 28 cents per share. Following that, a &ldquo key support&rdquo of the share price is &ldquo potentially&rdquo removed.

The $5/- gap created on 30 June would be filled as quickly just like SM as it is unlikely to be a runaway gap.    Whether it will go higher than the lat high is something many would want to find an answer. This will depend on how the market perceive the SIA growth to be and if what being said about SIA by the 3 broker houses/anaysts  are true.

Yes.,  usual for funds to rebalance their portfolios particularly when end June is the window dressing time. This is also the time they will take stocks and also look forward to prepare for the next earning report to come.  They would sell some and buy some.  But selling 400 million shares will cause a stir.in the market,  affecting also their existing 53% SIA holdings.     What made them to sell SIA instead of other stocks is something investors are still ponding.  12 years ago,  Temasek sold SembCorp Marine (SM) clearly because they knew SM is going to have a bad quarterly report.  Now yhe 3 brokers house/analysts have talked about decling SIA earnings. Are they just echoing the Temasek or the other way round?   Is the SM situation going to repeat in SIA?. https://skyjuiceiswater3.blogspot.com/2023/06/temasek-holdings-selling-400-million.html

I think the recent rally has already factored in the Q1 results. It tends to explain why TH has sold, apart from valuation. Today asia mkts are rebounding line with dow and nasdaq rally last fri. hmm for me, collect below $6.8 slowly.

will shoot back up above 8/- soon, dividend in next 25 days 0.28, technically stock should reach 7.80 soon, sia flies huge number of passengers, with the ceo getting almost 6.8million means forthcoming result should surprise many investors to stay happy.TH is an investment institution, leverage on its low purchase and getting some out to invest in other potential good companies
