[SINGAPORE] Sarawak-based offshore marine firm Nam Cheong : 1MZ +2.86% has secured vessel charter contracts worth up to RM317.1 million (S$94.5 million) from regional oil majors.
 
The multi-year agreements have a firm charter period of up to two years, with options for further extension, the company said in a bourse filing on Wednesday (Apr 16).
 
Seven anchor handling tug supply vessels will be deployed in Malaysian and Thai waters to support offshore operations, including towing, anchoring, logistics and emergency response.
 
With these, Nam Cheong has 21 vessels, or 56.8 per cent of its total fleet, under long-term charter, which puts it on track to reach its 70 per cent goal.
 
The company&rsquo s chief executive officer Leong Seng Keat said: &ldquo With Sarawak&rsquo s growing role as a regional oil and gas hub and the increasing offshore activities in Malaysia, we are well-positioned to support our clients&rsquo evolving needs while enhancing the group&rsquo s earnings visibility and long-term value.&rdquo

Nam Cheong Limited has indeed secured new multi-year offshore support vessel (OSV) charter contracts. Nam Cheong now got two huge waves of contract wins with oil majors like Petronas.

 Alert Admin 		Read all   my comments   carefully.. since when I commented that it' s not reliance on oil& gas?I only dispute your claims that TW is heading down and thus NC should head down.. 

lose argument and you start to anyhow put words in my mouth..

I must also clarify that with my above comment, I do not mean the NC will for sure suffer in low oil price... I only meant to say I didnt co-relate the NC with oil price in any of my comments...

 Alert Admin 		Your ignorance is pretty evident if you think a company that relies on the Oil & Gas sector does well in a low oil price environment.

If you check several threads related to Nam Cheong, you&rsquo ll see I was involved and bullish back then. But if you can&rsquo t see that low oil prices are bad for Nam Cheong, you probably won&rsquo t be able to find my posts either.

You' re probably salty because you bought when I sold after a 3x return in under a year. I was buying when the company came out of bankruptcy, vessel demand was rising and oil prices were high. You.re buying after it' s already gone up 3x while vessel demand is now decreasing according to Petronas (its main customer) and oil prices are heading down.

There was another guy who kept saying " expect the unexpected" multiple times a day caught up in the euphoria. I guess he didn&rsquo t expect OPEC+ to flood the market with more oil and drive prices even lower.

I feel sorry for those who think Nam Cheong is a good investment at this point. It really depends on what oil does and oil is down a lot. Just look at what' s happening with Tidewater the largest OSV company in the world. That alone should tell you everything you need to know
