If I give you two choices, a guaranteed outcome vs a gamble, which will you choose? 1) Guaranteed Return of $100 gain 2) 50% chance of zero, and 50% chance of $200 gain 80% of people choose Option 1. Why,  because you sit down there guaranteed $100 gain, why take the risk of a 50% chance of zero. So people ignore the 50% chance of $200 gain. Again if I tried: 1) Guaranteed Loss of $100 2) 50% chance of zero, and 50% chance of a $200 loss 80% of people choose Option 2. Why,  because you don' t gamble means you guaranteed $100 loss, take a gamble and you have a 50% chance of getting out of trouble back to zero. So people ignore the 50% chance of a $200 loss. So for BB to sell before the rest of the market sell, is a responsible thing to do. Anyway, if the stock is solid, can always buy back at the low later.
