It may happen on  those are with 1 to 2 % dividend or split dividend to half yearly or quarterly. 1 time annual high dividend stock like YZJ has priced in too much expectation on dividend payment. You may do your own due diligent. Recent case in my watch list, Capitaland, Venture and Samudera Shipping, all drop more than dividend and till now still struggle to. The worst case is Samudera, Before Ex-D is 35cents and dividend is 1.75cents, fantastic 1Q 2015 result, but price drop to lowest 25.5cents, today recover back to 28. Samudera issue good 1Q 2015 result better than any quarter result in past 4 quarter, next year dividend will be higher. But how many shareholders will wait for 1 year for dividend? So long as 5% is willing to cash out, price will drop to hell. I am interest to know how much YZJ will drop on 18 May. My short position very well at 1.47 to 1.475 highest price so far. Short seller has taken over the price range, 1.42 to 1.48 will be the range till Ex-D, they are selling now including me.
