In November 2024, DBS Bank announced a S$3 billion share buyback program to purchase and cancel its own shares from the open market. This was the first time DBS has canceled shares after buying them back. How will the buyback work? The buyback will be carried out at management's discretion and subject to market conditions. The program is expected to raise earnings per share (EPS) and return on equity (ROE). What does this mean for shareholders? With fewer shares in circulation, each shareholder gets a larger stake in the company and a higher return on future dividends. Why did DBS do this? DBS has been active on the capital-management front in recent years. The move is on the back of strong third-quarter 2024 earnings. Hope this is accurate and clarifies. My opinion is sbb is best for cancellation for big amounts. We can always issue shares for other purposes on a smaller scale. Let's hope we don't have to pay 3 billion dollars worth of shares for options and performance shares

When mrbear means overweight, he means a portfolio shld have a larger portion vis a vis say Reits which is currently underweight.
