I' m not sure what u mean by unknown, if u r referring to I have stated a valuation price for DBS but not able to furnish a time frame, I have the following sharing with u

1) when we invest in a company we hold a fraction of the entity, the performance of the business are directly associated with the shareholders. As an investor we would like to buy a business at a price below its fair value to give ourselve a margin of safety n hence we will need to estimate its valuation. Before I go on let me quote u a simple example. Assuming u hold a net asset of 1 million currently n your employment or business give u an annual net cashflow of $50k for the next 10 years, a simple calculation will show that your valuation is 1.5mil (1mil + 50k x 10 years) ignoring discounting factors n growth for simple illustration. 

This is your valuation at present value but in reality you only have 1mil on hand becos the annual 50k cashflow for the next 10 years are not in your pocket yet. Thus if u really need to state a time frame to  realize the valuation (ignoring present value effect) it will be 10 years. This is called real economy.

2) next, assuming u r listed in the stock exchange, your valuation will be reflected over time in the share price, again if u need a time frame it will be 10 years from now. However, in reality the time needed for the stock mkt to reflect your valuation will be shorter (stock mkt always move ahead of the real economy) but we are not ascertain to know the exact time line becos in the short run stock mkt are irrational n over rule by greed n fear.  There is no way that we can calculate when the mkt will become greedy likewise there is no way for me to know when u will be greedy n when u will be fearful. Thus, the time line will be somewhere between now to 10 years n will be shorter than 10 years.

3) thus, it is not an unknown..it is something that will happen but it just take time. The above illustrated is the cashflow n balance sheet valuation method. In my previous post I have shared with everyone a more simple n yet practical method for calculating the bank valuation, pe method. I have explicitly explained step by step in how the DBS valuation is derived. I' m most willing to lend a listening ear to your comment or feedback if u have physically tried out the calculation.

However if u did not even put in an effort to try out, don' t know what is happening n jump straight to conclusion to criticise for the sake of criticism, u r just making a fool out of yourself for no reason. Hi famouspinky, thanks for your feedback :) being honest n open are the most important aspects in communication. Topic that beyond my knowledge I would have to admit n it would be good that u can share if u know the time frame needed for the mkt to turn greedy. It doesn' t matter whether I' m sharing general or sophiscated stuff, most importantly is the recipient feel benefitted n useful..trying to be showy n impress others by thinking I' m very sophiscated is not my intention to share...you have your liberty of not participating in discussion relating to animal but it will be good that u can respect others n so to be respected..I welcome your feedback n sharing if u think that topics which I mentioned are lack of substance n u have better idea to share that will benefit everyone (I can also learn from u)..by criticizing others without your own concrete solution is not a gentlemen act..thank you..
