In fact, Telkomsel ($806m pre-tax in FYE 31 Mar 2024) contributed more than Airtel ($755m) which brings us to the next point... Does it mean Singtel' s Telkomsel stake is also potentially worth more than it' s Airtel stake? Or is Airtel looking rather inflated right now? Glooper83      ( Date: 10-Aug-2024 23:39) Posted: There is definitely a strong correlation between the US Fed interest rates and Singtel' s share price but I wouldn' t put it this way... US Fed interest rates affect Singapore' s interest rates... Which is around 3.64% (6 mths)... Investors will want a higher return for the additional risk to invest in stocks so let' s assume it' s about additional 1 - 2% (depending on each individual ' s risk assessment)... Meaning they would want 4.64% - 5.64% returns...  At the current price of $2.92, 15 cents dividends would give 5.13%... I guess it would be fair to say that the stock is " fairly valued" ... However, if (1) interest rates start to drop or (2) if dividends increase, then the price should also move accordingly... Of course there may be other variables that might affect the share price as well... To be refined further... x 1   x 0  Alert Admin	1. If you are talking about a 10 year horizon, I' m guessing that you mean holding Singtel during that period, so whether the share price drops or rises shouldn' t matter... So on 26 Sep 2014, the share price was $3.80. You would have made a loss of $0.40 if you sold it today at $3.40. 2. During the last 10 years (2015-2024), total dividends paid out is 149.45 cents. That is an average of almost 15 cents per year. 3. This topic is about Singtel, not about finding the best investment. There could be better investment opportunities out there, if one is willing to spend the time to explore... No one is saying Singtel is the best... But is it fair to blame it solely on mgmt that Singtel is not the best performing stock?? 4. I don' t understand why you said can easily get other stocks like DBS but then in the next point you mentioned that people are stuck in Singtel. Both are trading in the SGX, and are equally liquid... 5. Again, you are comparing Singtel to other stocks, by all means, I don' t think anyone has the ability to force others to hold onto Singtel stock... The SGX is open, can trade anytime... 6. If you are talking about the senior generation who received free tranches of Singtel stock, then all the more I don' t understand what is the " loss" they suffered... Perhaps this should boil down to an individuals contentment and levels of gratitude...  7. Lastly, talking about Singtel' s performance... It seems like the only metric you are concerned again with is the share price... Which didn' t seem to improve after 10 years... but did you consider the dividends? I can sense that you are writing fully from an emotional stand point but very little facts... I wouldn' t advice you to invest in stocks if this is the case...
