Grab allows COE cars on its platform. Ride-hailing operator Grab will raise its platform fee from 30 cents to 70 cents starting from May 5, a move it described as being in line with platform fees charged by other ride-hailing platforms. In an e-mail sent to customers on Friday night, Grab said the new fee will be reflected on all its transport service types, including GrabShare, which allows commuters to book shared rides on private-hire cars and taxis and was reintroduced on Jan 16 after a halt during the Covid-19 pandemic. ?This will support the development of continuous app improvements such as safety features, increased reliability and driver-related benefits,? it said in the e-mail, which outlined ways in which it was trying to improve its shortage of drivers. Gojek also has a platform fee of 70 cents for every trip, although others in the ride-hailing space charge different amounts. Ride-hailing app Tada charges customers 55 cents for trips that cost up to $18, while those that cost more have an additional cost of 75 cents. Ryde?s platform fee is 30 cents, while ComfortDelGro?s taxi booking app does not charge customers any platform fee. After the latest announcement from Grab, undergraduate Janellia Kwan said she would be less likely to use the platform when she needs to commute. ?Grab was always a last resort, especially since its surge prices made trips a lot pricier. ?I?ve been using (ride-hailing app) Tada a lot more, and I think this will just reaffirm my decision,? said the 22-year-old.

CDG has 2 key divisions which account for 90% of its revenue, namely the Public Transport Services and Taxi divisions.  In FY22, the Public transport Services division saw a 8.2% increase in revenue. Excluding the gain on disposal of property, operating profit would have decreased slightly. This was due to higher operating costs as well as lower COVID-19 government reliefs. The Taxi division fared better as revenue increased 2.7% while operating profit nearly tripled. This was due to a reduction in rental discounts and the introduction of taxi fare commissions. CDG distributed dividends of 8.48 cents which amounts to a yield of 7% for FY22. 3.87 cents of dividends arose from specials as a result of asset disposals and commemoration of company milestones. Hence, we do not expect CDG to maintain this level of dividends in FY23. It is worth noting that CDG is currently trading near its net asset value of $1.186 and is in a net cash position of about $0.27. With its strong net cash position, CDG is expected to continue growing its overseas portfolio either by tenders or by acquisitions. To keep the company future-ready, it also intends to invest more than $6 billion to replace its existing fleet with electric vehicles.
