Low ball takeovers can not succeed if minority sharholders unite and refuse to sell. Unfortunately, from the recent successful low ball takeovers in SGX, this will not happen because most retailers are happy as long as they don' t lose money. The usual argument is sell and move on, letting the offerors laugh gleefully all the the to the bank. |

if low ball privatise at 35c, BBs and their shorties picking now at 28/28.5 oso laugh to the banks. tink better let TO at 35 than let play down by bbs and their shorties day after day, from 50-60c to < 30c. no buy back, yeh maybe managment got plot TO at cheapie rate. |

Nowadays, when share prices go down to low levels and management has no intention to support share price, I have the suspicion that management is plotting to do wrong by us retailers. In SGX, the trust between minorities and management is broken. Geo price at 28c has dropped to unreasonably low value, not a squeak from management at the moment about share buyback. Is mangement plotting a low ball takeover? |

price has been push down cos shorties kno profit not so good as previous. but tink yr holding got point oso la. cos even if geo decrease div per yr to 4cents from 9c, still not bad, cos at 29c mkt price, yld is stil hi at 13.8%. Pay out ratio quite good one, 33%. not so easy to find such hi yld div in sgx. like konsi got say will cont to pay qtrly div. even at 0.5c evely qtr, oso got 6.9% yld, better than current FD rate of 3+%. Cash position US$209(S$280)mil, so much. Konsi got avail cash per sh of 20c or slighly mo. no problem giving qtrly div. konsi oso got say active progress .... .... .

Bro, if you feel stressed and depressed because of a stock, its time to sell. Peace of mind is more important. Money can earn back elsewhere. Most importantly, next time dont buy smaller cap stocks, buy etf or something more stable. For myself geo is my largest shareholding. I started buying nearly 2 years ago from 25c and have been buying more. Went through many ups and downs. Shoot up to 60c, drop back to 27c, go back to above 50c, now drop back down to 30c. It is a stock with a volatile share price and bot suitable for everyone to hold. Need to have belief in the management and fundamentals to go through the roller coaster without being stressed. And of course, collecting good dividends along the way.

Geo Energy Q1 net profit tumbles 60% to US$16 million on lower sales volumes
INDONESIAN coal producer Geo Energy Resources : RE4 0% posted a 60.4 per cent fall in its net profit to US$16 million for the first quarter ended Mar 31, 2023, from US$40.5 million the year before.
This was mainly due to lower sales volume and higher production cash costs, the mainboard-listed company said in a business update on Friday (May 12).
Earnings per share, converted to Singapore dollar terms, stood at 1.44 Singapore cents for the first quarter, down from 3.86 Singapore cents the previous year.
Revenue for Q1 fell 13.3 per cent to US$131.9 million, from US$152 million in the year-ago period. The group attributed this to lower sales volumes, partially offset by higher average selling price through export sales.
An interim dividend of 0.5 Singapore cent per share was declared for the quarter, down from two Singapore cents the year before. The dividend will be paid out on Jun 8, after books closure on May 31.
Charles Antonny Melati, executive chairman and chief executive, noted that cash cost per tonne has increased to US$52.60 in the first quarter, from US$36.60 in the year-ago period.
He attributed this mainly to the increase in royalty rates by the Indonesian government last September, and higher stripping ratios due to the geology of the mines. This contributed to the fall in net profit in the first quarter.
&ldquo We are making active progress towards value-accretive acquisitions of producing coal mines, to increase our reserves, production volumes, as well as achieve diversification,&rdquo said Melati.
&ldquo We are not only eyeing the growth of our revenue, but also an expansion of revenue streams towards building a sustainable business,&rdquo he added.

Obviously, I am not feeling shiok in this current situation despite the fact that there are dividends. All I can do now is continue to pray hard and hope that Geo climbs back up above 0.455 so that I can sell off with profit. I had contemplated in borrowing money from bank to buy more Geo to average down some more, but decided against doing so, it will just add on more risk and stressing myself even more. Nowadays with inflation and recession fears lingering, it is already bad enough. It is very depressing when the stock that you buy does not go up, that is why I can only console myself that there is some dividends to collect.
