SINGAPORE &ndash Every so often, I dream of staying in Orchard Road.  The area is, after all, known for being a premier lifestyle destination, with high-end malls and an array of food and beverage options. 

But along the bustling boulevard, hotel prices are steep.

For a night&rsquo s stay in November, a twin deluxe room at Hilton Singapore Orchard starts at $291 and a standard room at Holiday Inn Express Singapore Orchard Road starts at $261.

For cost savings, I look to co-living property Coliwoo Orchard, which is a four-minute walk from Paragon mall and has nightly stays for around 60 per cent cheaper. 

As Coliwoo Orchard is a serviced apartment, guests must stay a minimum of six nights. Its entry-level Master Studio starts at $592 for a six-night stay, averaging around $99 a night. 

The Master Studio &ndash one of a few rooms in an apartment &ndash has a super-single bed, an en-suite bathroom and access to shared common facilities such as a kitchenette and washer-dryer.

I stay in the Alcove Studio, and thankfully, it is brightly lit with a near 270-degree view of the Orchard enclave from its enclosed balcony. 

From my vantage point on the 20th floor, I can see Ion Orchard, Wisma Atria and Ngee Ann City malls &ndash a cheap thrill that keeps me hovering near the windows. 

The Alcove Studio fits a queen-sized bed, an en-suite bathroom, a workstation, my own kitchenette and a washer-dryer into the 1.85 sq m space. Prices start at $757 for six nights, or an average of $126 a night.

I stayed in a co-living apartment in Orchard that costs $126 a night. Was it worth the price?
