Yangzijiang gets orders for 12 vessels worth US$1.08b, sounds rosy note on LNG researchYangzijiang Shipbuilding on Friday announced orders for 12 vessels with a total contract value of US$1.08 billion as it sounded an optimistic note on its development of liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanks.The group has also signed a letter of intent (LOI) for five units of dual-fuel 7,000 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containerships, which is expected to become effective in August. This will further bring the total contract value to US$1.58 billion. Under the secured agreements for 12 vessels, the group is expected to build and deliver 10 units of dual-fuel 7,000 TEU containerships and two units of 50,000 deadweight tonnage medium-range tankers. The orders for the 15 units of dual-fuel 7,000 TEU containerships were placed by repeat customer Seaspan Corp. They will be delivered between 2023 and 2024. Yangzijiang called the orders " first-of-its-kind" - the containerships will be fitted with LNG tanks and LNG fuel storage and supply systems jointly designed by Yangzijiang. Excluding the LOI for the five vessels, the group has secured new orders for 112 vessels worth US$6.67 billion. This represents the largest order wins, based on total contract value, in the group' s history, Yangzijiang said. The group' s order book of US$8.74 billion for 170 vessels is also a record-high. It said it remains confident in securing more order wins amid " continued favourable market sentiments" . Ren Letian, executive chairman and chief executive of Yangzijiang, called the clinching of contracts for LNG dual-fuelled vessels a " momentous achievement" . " (It has) placed Yangzijiang among the playing field of other shipyards that were known to enjoy monopoly over the construction of dual-fuel engine vessels, and this was only possible through our continuous R& D efforts," he said. " As the shipping industry moves towards sustainable development and pivots to carbon-neutrality, we are confident that more shipowners will opt for such vessels to ensure functionality and relevance of newly built vessels and we are optimistic in clinching more of such orders," he added. The counter ended at S$1.37 on Friday, down S$0.01 or 0.73 per cent, prior to the announcement. |

YZJ got a good bargain for investors as the 100mil stock used was bought from market under sharebuyback, average 0.95 valued at 1.37 for purchase. Very smart on yzj management, let pray they mix up high margin and low margin deliveries to give a stellar 2q result. Best if they decided to spinoff the investment arm even better.

July finally over very nice, next week traders would be focused on 2q and if yzj result stellar might get re rated and test higher level. Very disturbing to see yzj stock price suppressed due to uncertainty on china crackdown on private companies even though fundamental is very solid on strong cash hold and solid order book. | ||||
