Yes it is their own invention with patents pending. (Maybe already obtained). Production also in Singapore. But whether involved US parts, I' m not able to answer.  ![]()

With Trumps sweet tweets reversing his previous battle cries, looks like his promise of a "swift trade deal that would include Huawei" may come true in June 😁

When ZTE was banned, they practically have to shut dowm biz. Even though Huawei have some own chips like KiRin, its unlikely they can upgrade and compete as the access to ARM will be blocked. No Corning Gorilla glass, no chips , no Android and playstore, no Windows OS (laptop). Even if they launch own OS, its unlikely to recover as apps store is difficult to overscome as no Whatsapp, no Facebook, gmail, youtube etc. It will probably get worse before getting better, China will have to annouce retaliation measures soon, otherwise they look weak. probaby some kind of rare earth minerals export quota. AEM will have considerable negative impact from Intel and Huawei if this fight goes on. |

For the case of AEM, I would like to know whose equipment are they using to do the cable testing for Huawei?  Their own OEM equipments?  If it is their own OEM equipments, I would like to know if there are US made parts, technology, patent, etcs used in the manufacture of their OEM equipments.  If there are, will this run foul of the US blacklisted regulation?  Also will this affect their working relationship with their other US customers?

Based on report, Huawei' s stockpile is supposed to last anywhere from 3 months to a year.    To win a technology race, you get the best technology.  If China' s technology is not on par with the west by the time the stockpile ran out, what then?  How will this affect their product quality?  Are their customers willing to take that risk?  Are their customers prepared to take the risk of stepping on the US blacklist " mine field" ?  Which Company want to risk a US sanction and  US punishment for running afoul of doing business with a  blacklisted Company?

The US presidential candidates election debate is in August this year. Trump said Huawei is going to be part of the trade deal. If there is no deal by August this year, Trump will do in trouble. That is my view - there is either a trade deal or at least solid signs of a trade deal before August this year. Maybe AEM will have to go below the 70c handle. Whatever ... the price is likely to recover above $1.00 ... eventually. Huawei is No 1 market share in handset sale. I can' t imagine it is going to give up all this so easily. | ||||

Got you. Your point is valid. Founder of Huawei did acknowledged that China technology is still not on par. But he also mentioned that they are already producing the chips in China. They continue to buy from American companies because of the relationship built up over the years. In fact many of the chips suppliers produce the chips in China. This founder is a wise man, he already forseen and prepared by stockpiling and also going into R& D aggressively. They will catch up in no time. AEM management who went to Huawei office in China were stunned and at a loss of word when they see the amount of cable Huawei stockpile.

If the blacklisting continues, basically, Huawei can forget about buying anything or services from most western companies.  they probably end up only able to buy from their own companies or the Russians (worst case scenario).  In my opinion, Chinese technology is still behind those of the western companies, hence, the using of western high tech components in their Huawei products.  the fact is most of the chinese high tech products are build with high tech western components.    if the chinese components are technologically on par with the western, then why are they not using them? afterall, chinese components are likely cheaper.  That said, Chinese technology have been improving and catching up to the west.  IMO, DYODD.
