True and the expiration dates/time noted by you are also on point, but it can be any of the witching - double, triple, quadruple. About price though, unless one queue at a very low price (e.g. CapitaLand at 2.93) during day, you' re unlikely to catch it at the low price because witching is done right at the dead of the closing. And you' re surely right that the chance of share price bouncing back up next week is pretty good. So its a lesson learned - wait for the last Friday of the next/every quarter and queue at 4 to 5 spreads below trading price for STI listed stocks and one might just get lucky!

All relac pls..its due to the magical quarterly witchin hour la! Prices will gapped up or down due to squaring of positions due to closing, opening and offsettin of futures and options contracts, as well as its underlying. I bot more to accumlate due to the gapped down!! whahahaha |

It is quadruple witching today..happen on every 3rd friday on every quarter,,,many stocks at matching today..lendlease, sats suntec reit,capitalmall trust , ascendas reit, mapletree comm, kepplel dc reit ,capitaland, st engg..Institutional BB rebalancing their portfolios..might not be bad..sometimes next week rebound back..happened before..so good to get if price is right.. | ||||

And the same kind of trade and result happened with CapitaLand - over 6.6 million lots done at the close driving the share price down from 2.97 to 2.93, a spread of 4. So you' re probably right in your observation that it is triple witching.

TBH i know what triple/quadruple witching means but i have no idea what is its actual effect on the market. I just know it' s a day when the big boys re-shuffles alot of things, so it might explain the dumping of numerous STI stocks.

Dump down of 5 spreads in one single trade of over 5.5 million lots? I doubt this kind of trade happens to many counters even on days other than Friday. Can you provide examples?
