It is no longer a component of the sti since a week or two back.. This was just a huge transaction. You may be right that a big fund bought into it. That' s my guess too. Fund buying in for the long term. Big boys brought price down to 1.975 and then gobbled it up. Those holding should just hold. The commodities super cycle will be here again........according to Goldman Sach' s .......it' s already begining!!

I don' t think it was a married deal. Immediately after market closed, number jumped to $2.40. My broker told me some time ago that usually a high number is put in to buy(this is to ensure that buyer gets his shares) but the computer will match the high buy price to the lowest sale price. At 5.02 it dropped to 2.11. A total of 1596 millon bought after market closed, so this in itself is good. I guess more news coming. On another board there was a suggestion that there is going to be another dividend payment. How true....... i don' t know. Anyway good movement on Fri. US fell last night. Hope this does not put a wet blanket on Olam on Monday. If it does good time to load up. I tried to get at 1.975 but did not managed to fill my order at all. Have a great weekend.

Hi I checked and actually at 17.04/05 there was a last minute trade for the above volume ...aro 1.6M shares at 2.04 as how many parties are involved there is no infor. FYI

?// You mean there is a married deal after market closed ? This is possible when 2 parties agreed on a price and normally very large qty of shares.....it should be reported by SGX tomorrow on the parties involved? Or have I misread your input ?

Wait ...I am NOT certain this 222M done today are an additional 222M buy up by Mit corp ( means total 444M) ? I think it was the orginal announce sale by the K gp. If so then it is just a change in share holders? Maybe SGX website might clarify this tonite or tmr . Thanks

Just thinking......It is good that Mitsubishi increased their stake. Now they will want to make sure their stake is proftable so, there will be many more oppurtunities to penetrate the japanese market. Wonder if it could be due to the nuclear fallout? |

Hey Fataba, I had to write to Mindy Tan. Was a little upset with lousy reporting. This stock is my largest holding at an average price of 1.803....was a little concerned.I believe It is an additional share buy up from Kewalram group. Hence their shares % increased. Good Luck. Also another deal ADM should be close to closing in Q4. Hopefully commodities will pick up . Oil must lead the way. Just waiting on China to announce some sort of stimulus. they cannot lose face right. Cheers. |

She kept her word.... SEP 15, 20159:55 AM SHARES of Olam International fell 3 cents to S$1.955 as at 9.46am on Tuesday with some 222.1 million shares changing hands. In a statement on Aug 28, the agri-business said it will issue 332.7 million shares to Japan' s Mitsubishi Corp at S$2.75 apiece, or about 12 per cent of the company' s enlarged share capital. Separately, the Japanese conglomerate also said it will acquire about 222 million secondary Olam shares from the founding members of the Kewalram Chanrai Group at the same price. After these transactions, Mitsubishi will become Olam' s second-largest shareholder with a 20 per cent stake after investment firm Temasek Holdings. The deal will also dilute Temasek' s stake in Olam to 51.4 per cent, from 58 per cent. Separately, it was also announced earlier this month that Olam would be dropped from the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) due to new liquidity rules. STI component stocks now must trade at least 0.1 per cent of their issued shares, up from 0.05 per cent, based on their median daily trade for 10 of the 12 months before a review date, which could be in March or September. |

Agree, let' s wait. 332,727,273 This is total number of shares Mitsubishi owns. In principle approval granted on the 7th of Sept as per Olam investor site. Let' s hope someone else is buying or Mit has decided to increase stake. So far no news anywhere. Checking Business Times throughout the day. will post if have info.

Temasek is largest shareholder so i don' t think they want to give up control. So it could be the Kewalram group selling their stake to MIT. No doubt at the same price they bought from temasek. this is just guessing. I' m not sure. |
