what @mcking pointed out makes sense just imagine as an individual, if u can finance trough 1 of the many many banks will you borrow from ahlong?? no right?? if by normal placement can secure fresh cash, I don' t think CNA would resort to selling bond at such an un-favorable conversion condition is it suggesting that not many big investors willing to finance CNA like last times anymore. nothing wrong to be optimistic about CNA. the same way, nothing wrong that someone is pessimistic about it. But of course the bond mature at the end of 5 years, so still got a bit time. Please let me know if I missed out any blind spot.

Thanks for the pointer. BTW, any funds that is willing to push for the counter is still positive for trading purpose...and be frank, players of these kind of penny stock is purely trading and specualtions...as long as funds is willing to come in, it is good sign for trading purpose...Just that when one play this kind of  penny counter,  one  have to be prepared for high risk high return...

The problem how they are footing the bill for the loan? Zero coupon means zero interest. Convertible to mothershare (last close 0.081) at 0.05 per share, so basing on last close px the interest is at 0.031 (approx 61%) paid by retailer. Better then any investment, where to find so good return??
Correct me if i am wrong.

If investment fund houses willing to finance a company through bond offer, this shows they  sees a potential in that company in the long run.  Who would want to fund a company so bluntly when they  analyse the company past track records are so discouraging?

anything that let' s the share price moves up is not a bad thing. the price drop because the auditor highlighted a shortage of working capital. the bonds helps to shore up the cash flow of the company. which addresses the auditor' s concern. how is that a bad thing?

Sorry, I shoudl have copy and paste the whole sentence here... Target investments include distressed credit, private equity secondaries, activist investments and other opportunities offering the possibility of unlocking the underlying value of a company or asset. The Master Fund will only make investments in companies or assets with the majority of their value derived from or located in Asia.

I see this, dont know if you see this:   other opportunities offering the possibility of unlocking the underlying value of a company or asset.... The funds is seeing CNA as a company with underlying value !!! Thats what I see... I am a 500000 shareholders of CNA...I should have attaneded their AGM instead of turing up at Polaris AGM...Regret

Pacific Alliance Asia Opportunity Fund Limited (PAX) is a closed-end investment company, incorporated in the Cayman Islands that serves as a feeder fund for Pacific Alliance Asia Opportunity Fund L.P. (the &ldquo Master Fund&rdquo ), a Cayman Islands exempted limited partnership. PAX was admitted to trading on the AIM Market of the London Stock Exchange in September 2006 and is managed by Pacific Alliance Investment Management Limited (the &ldquo Investment Manager&rdquo ), an affiliate of PAG (www.pagasia.com). The principal investment objective of both PAX and the Master Fund is to provide their respective shareholders with capital appreciation and a regular level of income through value, arbitrage and special situations investments in the Asian markets. PAX seeks to achieve this objective through its investment in the Master Fund, and the Master Fund identifies assets that can be purchased at discounts to their realizable net asset value and realizing such value through sales of the underlying assets or through other forms of structured exit. Target investments include distressed credit, private equity secondaries, activist investments and other opportunities offering the possibility of unlocking the underlying value of a company or asset. The Master Fund will only make investments in companies or assets with the majority of their value derived from or located in Asia.
