Just got some detailed analysis about the implication of Biden or Trump' s victory. just summarize Trump' s victory: 1) Global trade uncertianites may continue 2) Global oil and fossil fuel sector may be positive 3) US corporations continue enjoying low corporate tax as usual with US equities such as defence, banks, tech 4) Negative for all China' s equities such as tech, auto as well as exporters. Biden' s victory: 1) More open global trade environment is positive 2) US-China trade tension could ease with possible removal of tarriffs, which is positive for logistic/shipping industry growth (China ports will benefit more) 3) Clean and alternate energy sector is positive 4) Generally positive for China' s assets 5) US market sell-down may not be ruled out as corporate tax will be raised. Regardless of Trump or Biden' s victory, all infrastructure, consumer, REITS and other sectors are not likely affected badly.

HPHT have distributed non-stop dividend every 6 months since 2011. They have shown real money! When price is down, the yield is up. it is just like see-saw effect? No, Ports volume up, then revenue up, DPU up. What kind of effect?  As for HPHT, do you know that HPHT revenue is both volume and price driven? HPHT likely enjoy high economy of scale given increasing volume of ports. Moreover, pending Biden' s plan to remove tariffs, HPHT will likely normalize all ports dues, fees, etc and stop any concession. The great or small volume of concession offered by most world ports including HPHT to shipping liners in bad times of US-China tension and even Covid-19 pandemic. As for REITS, it is mostly price driven, depending on the rental reversion whether it is positive or not. Regarding volume, it is related to how full the units are leased out and so not much volume-driven unless any units expanded or acquired. However, it generate stable dividends as long as the long term lease agreements with tenants have been secured. Anything too good is suspicious. On hindsight, too high yield suggest the stock is junk grade right? To justify the risk premium so higher yield is demanded. As for shorting, just like how u pick stocks to long Business prospect good, solid cash balance and minimal debt to short, just think reverse lo. SIA is a good example. No biz for next few qts cash = $3b vs liab = $11.9b how not to fall? Target companies with shortage of cash and suspected fall in biz for next few qtrs I shorted Genting at $0.9 and waited few mths before it finally drop to $0.67 this company got huge cash so despite no rev, its share price didnt fall much until results release when it didnt declare div which surprised mkt. For HPHT, oh well, a lot of people chasing dividends without looking at other facts and figures in financial sttms. Like i say, 10% yield is a red flag. Look at parkwaylife, its DPU increase and share price also appreciate as mkt knows this is a solid reits. So a good solid reit seldom gives 10% as DPU increae, demand for this reit increase which push up reit unit price and yield falls.
