WALL STREET JOURNAL ? M'sia Airlines? missing jet transmitted its location repeatedly to satellites over the course of five hours after it disappeared from radar, as searchers zeroed in on new target areas hundreds of miles west of the plane?s original course.
The satellites also received speed and altitude information about the plane from its intermittent ?pings.? The final ping was sent from over water, at normal cruising altitude. They added that it was unclear why the pings stopped. One industry official, said it was possible that the system sending them had been disabled by someone on board. |

Military data suggests 'skilled' flyer turned Malaysia jet...Investigators now believe a Malaysian jet that vanished was commandeered by a " skilled, competent" flyer who piloted the plane for hours. U.S. official said key evidence suggesting human intervention is that contact with the Boeing 777's transponder stopped about a dozen minutes before a messaging system on the jet quit. Such a gap would be unlikely in the case of an in-flight catastrophe. " Signs so far point to a " controlled, deliberate act, not a mechanical failure" . USS Kidd guided missile destroyer and a P-8 Poseidon aircraft had been deployed to the " western search area" in the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal. India's navy it was doubling, at M'sia's behest, ships and planes had deployed to search the Indian Ocean waters around its remote Andaman and Nicobar islands. Six vessels and five planes were concentrating on an area " designated" by the M'sian navy in the southern region of the Andaman Sea, Close to 60 ships and 50 aircraft from 13 countries have been deployed across the entire search zone since MH370 went missing. The night was clear and no distress signal was received with 239 passengers and crew on board, vanished on March 8 over waters between Malaysia and southern Vietnam. Reports of altered flight path -- " unverified" information, as reports of an altered flight path mounted. Multiple US media reports also had cited unidentified officials as saying a satellite continued to detect the plane's automated communication system for hours after radar contact was lost. Malaysian official said only a skilled aviator could navigate the plane the way it was flown after its last confirmed location over the South China Sea. The New York Times reported that M'sian military radar data had shown the airliner altering course at least twice and changing altitude -- sometimes erratically. The plane had enough fuel to fly for at least five hours after its last know location, meaning a vast swath of South and Southeast Asia would be within its reach. Investigators are analyzing radar and satellite data from around the region to try and pinpoint its final location, something that will be vital to hopes of finding the plane, and answering the mystery of what happened to it. |

 The Malaysian Insider - US has ?indication? lost MH370 crashed in Indian Ocean, moving ship for search in the next 24 hours and is moving the USS Kidd to the area to begin searching, ABC News reported early today. It will take another 24 hours to move the ship into position in the vast sea on the west coast of the Malay peninsula, a senior Pentagon official told the US television station. " We have an indication the plane went down in the Indian Ocean," the senior official was quoted as saying about the search for the lost Malaysia Airlines (MAS) passenger jet, which disappeared last Saturday. The Pentagon official said the US was moving the USS Kidd destroyer northwest through the Straits of Malacca toward the Indian Ocean, to an area recently searched by US surveillance aircraft, P-3C Orion, which can cover 1,000-1,500 square miles every hour. |
