I am just into my first year of trading, but I will look on and see what happens. Win or lose, this one is truly a good case study for future trading experience - a blue chip which supposedly (i read) jumped from worst performing to one of the best, and then now perplexingly plummets and negates all 2017' s gains (I read also). But 2018 is a highly turbulent year, and everything happens contrary to ' textbook' scenarios - now trading is more... fun, if I think positively. If it' s just ' see high sell, see low buy' , then everyone can be traders :D I wouldn' t be so ready to see it as a loss though. Big bully Trump may still suddenly ' change his mind' about trade war, and go sc*ew somebody else (this time maybe Iceland? Polynesia?) and things may suddenly change. Let' s see how the market recovers when the effects of all the bad news abate... ^^

Bro i' m wondering the same thing man. Wonder if there is some monkey business going on. Funds seem to have bailed out. Steel tarrifs wont affect them much coz they have supply so i can' t understand why the fall (huge fall). China companies cannot trust. Their accounting is out of this world. I think recently when management issued letter about huge drop put some jitters in the market. Never before has a company come out and say nothing is wrong without SGX query. Vested but getting ready to cut loss.

This one is a tough nut to crack... Good order book (+), USD going up good for profit (+), has capital to keep buying back shares (+), fears over US-China trade spat (-), etc etc. I am waiting it out - bought 55 lots back then when it was 1.02

Worst news all out ... us china trade war, us FED interest up, HK holiday, SG holiday, world cup ... what else??? yet recovering from low of 92 now ... those kana force sell panic sell today ... if want to buy back need another worst news, but where is the next worst news??? morning start got 8000K in sell queues, now left 5500K, see if by 10am morning force sell period over, if left only little cat 2 or 3 ... |

Indeed it makes sense to buy back if share price lower than NAV. Compared this withy Venture which also do buyback but share price much higher than NAV. | ||||

*** Why YZJ is doing buyback now *** Reported 04june2018 new US$578 million order for 2 small 7 big ships. The 2 small ships each US$25 million, so each big ship US$75 million. Reported 04june2018 also delivered 8 small ship 10 big ships in apr,may2018, or about (8 x 25) + (10 x 75) = US$950 million. Under YZJ progressing payment, will receive at least 50% on delivery or 50% x US$950 million = US$475 million cash YZJ profit margin small ship 10% to 30% big ship, so even using lower 15% = 0.15 X US$475 million cash = US$71 million = S$95 million free cash for apr,may2018. What to do with this S$95 million free cash??? Answer: Buyback ... at 2,000,000 share per day, can buyback 47 day or 2month 1 week. By then another S$95 million new free cash already come in for next buyback ... and have not even touch the S$1,110 million cash in balance sheet yet ... Are YZJ management willing to buyback continuously??? Answer: YESSSS!!!! YZJ bookvalue currently S$1.4 per share. Buyback $1 per share, earn $0.4 per share easy easy, 40% profit, much easy then building ships ... you think chairman Ren Yuanlin stupid meh??? |

Why US China Trade War can benefit YZJ ... If trade war, monday and short term YZJ may drop like all others in SGX but after a few days ... Trade war means less trade between US and China, so demand for RMB/US$ and US$/RMB both down. But US buy more from china than china buy from US, so demand for RMB drop more than US$, so US$ will strengthen vs RMB. Every 1% US$ up vs RMB, YZJ net profit will up 2% since YZJ revenue in US$ but cost in RMB Trade war means US goods will ship to 3rd country 1st then to China to avoid tax, while China goods will also ship to 3rd country 1st then to US to avoid tax. So shipping demand go up, YZJ get more orders ... Trade war 1st hit is China steel export to US. Less demand means china steel price down. Every 1% steel price down, YZJ net profit up 0.5%. But then, monday can still drop like a stone hoh ... |
