got ah gong behind ma.. the-hide-behind-ah-gong-for-protection mentality in investors.. think got ah gong can already, no need strong fundamentals.. sometimes fundamentals is just 1 small contributing part for share price.. a lot depends on market sentiment, and also where funds park their money.. since we retailers wont know the info of where funds will park their money, and cannot measure market sentiment, we tend to lose out |

Because it WAS an STI component stock and many funds are still stuck with substantial holding. From time to time, it will be pump and dump to the unsuspecting retailer. |

PROSPECTS The public transport operating landscape remains challenging for the Group. Operating expenses are expected to continue increasing to further strengthen performance in rail reliability, maintainability, availability, capacity and safety. Under the current financing framework, asset renewal of the ageing system and an expanded fleet will result in further increase in depreciation. The Group is making progress in its discussions with the authorities on the transition to a new rail financing framework. Bus operations are expected to improve compared to FY2015. SMRT Buses will continue to participate in the tenders under the Government&rsquo s new bus contracting model. We will be discussing with the authorities on the contract terms for the remaining bus services beyond the license expiry in August 2016. However, the outcome of these will not have an impact on the results of the Group for the next twelve months. The Group will continue to explore growth anchored on the strengths of its core public transport operations and adjacent capabilities, locally and overseas. who says the proposal of rail financing is put to bed by the minister or LTA? read between the lines of the recent article. Are you suggesting that some government unit or POSB will pay SMRT for all the Friday free rides on behalf of the commuters so that SMRT will have increased revenue?

I just hope we all get our facts straight so that we do not get carried away unnecessarily. Apart from the National Day free-ride thing, we shd get it into our system that the issue of rail refinancing has already been put to bed by the Minister. Also, hoping for a cut in the CEO' s salary is never gonna happen (although, of course, his next bonus award cld well be lower n, if he is asked to leave for underperforming, say, the replacement might come in at a lower salary). Then, in case we' re over showering SMRT with expanding rail capacity, do bear in mind that the Downtown line has already gone to rival SBS Transit maybe SMRT will get TEL, but it' s not a sure thing. So, if we are gonna hope for a share px resurgence based on these aforesaid assumptions, maybe a re-assessment wld be sensible.

low oil price is supporting the stock while the rail financing discussion should accelerate since things breakdown is becoming more frequent. I still see it testing the previous high within 1-2 years..national day free ride going to boost revenue in the short terms. more railway being build also mean more retail business .. this is a long term stock. hope the CEO salary get cut --> this should boost the stock price as well lol
