In fact many pennies were given live (salt fish become alive) by those merchant bankers via RTOs.In the construction industry  I recalled Hong Fok owed its contractors no cash so give 1 apartment equivalent. Sense these bankers like pennies as they will hv more M& A biz in ' rescuing' them. Early days were those Indonesians coming to do RTOs for their over valued companies. A few funds are set up charging ah long style taking 'high' risks to lend to penny counters. It is prevalent in our Mickey mouse sgx club. Retail investors always kenna hammered.
