The callable date for the existing preference shares is 2020. The non-cumulative non-convertible non-voting class N preference shares have a payout of 4.7 per cent. Preference shares  can be converted into ordinary shares.  Given the above info. and DBS will pay S$1.20 per share in dividends from 2018 onwards .... Current yield for ordinary share is 5% which is higher that the 4.7% for preference shares, it' s wise for DBS to buy back shares as long as price is $25.53 ($1.2 / 4.7%) and below..... and convert the preference shares into ordinary shares when due.
