This is one thing I admire about YZJ management. They are quick and decisive to cut loss when they see trouble coming from the O& G sector. Even though they had just only started on rig building, pouring money into capital expenditure and all, they mothballed expansion plans and stopped at just this one rig.

LONDON (Alliance News) - Amedeo Resources PLC Wednesday said that the delivery of Jiangsu Yangzijiang Offshore Engineering Co Ltd' s first rig order has been delayed by request of the purchaser of the rig.

Amedeo has a 19% stake in Jiangsu Yangzijiang Offshore.

Amedeo said that the purchaser of the rig, who it did not disclose, is in the process of securing financing and employment for the rig, and is in talks with with third parties on both. However, it has requested that delivery of the rig be delayed until financing and employment are secured.

Jiangsu Yangzijiang Offshore is confident that the rig, called Explorer 1, will be sold either to the original purchaser or, failing that, to another party.

Shares in Amedeo were down 24% at 21.25 pence Wednesday afternoon.

Newbuilding activity has picked up pace over the course of the past couple of weeks. In its latest weekly report, shipbroker Allied Shipbroking noted that &ldquo things have been slightly more busy these past couple of days with a couple of new orders coming to light although the large bulk of them still seemed to be primarily focused on more specialized vessel types. We did also see some new orders emerge on the very large sizes in both the dry bulkers and tankers, while there was also an order switch at Daehan, from a previous order for Newcastlemax dry bulkers to Aframax tankers&rdquo , said Allied.

According to the shipbroker, &ldquo despite this the year is now close to coming to an end with the lowest new ordering volume from a historical perspective (looking back over the past 15 years). The damage from all this will start to become ever more prevalent within 2017, as we are likely to see more and more shipbuilders under distress, as they struggle to keep their cash flows moving and keep operations going. Given that there is still little evidence of a freight market recovery in the dry bulk market and the tanker markets are not holding firm optimism with regards to their future prospects, the prevailing theme of 2016 will follow us over for at least the first half of 2017, while it will be interesting to note if we ever manage to breakthrough the price floor we seem to have reached six months ago&rdquo , Allied noted.

Meanwhile, on the S& P markets, VesselsValue noted that bulker values remain stable. &ldquo Worlds Seas (81,800 DWT,2016, Jiangsu New Yangzijiang), Bright seas (81,800 DWT,2017, Jiangsu New Yangzijiang) and Inspiring seas (82,100 DWT,2016, Jiangsu New Yangzijiang) were sold to Enbloc to Evalaned Shipping. World Seas and Inspiring Seas sold for USD 20.35 mil each and Bright Seas sold for USD 20.8 million said VV&rdquo

In the tanker markets, VV noted that &ldquo VLCC&rsquo s have seen a firming in value this week. The BW Ulan (299,300 DWT,2000, Daewoo) was sold by BW Maritime to Severn Islands Shipping for USD 24 mill on subs. Older Aframaxes have also firmed. The Aegean Pride (105,300 DWT,1999, Samsung) sold for USD 10.5 mil, due to increased scrap rates&rdquo . Finally, on the container market, &ldquo older tonnage across all container types has seen a firming due to an increase in scrapping rates. Stadt Marburg (4380 TEU, 2009, Samsung), Stadt Coburg (4380 TEU, 2009, Samsung) and Stadt Freiburg (4380 TEU, 2010, Samsung) sold in a bank sale for USD 6 mil each vs VV value of USD 6.43, USD 6.54 mil and USD 7.46 mil respectively&rdquo , concluded VV.

On a similar note, Allied said that &ldquo on the dry bulk side, activity held fairly firm, with prices still showing an upward tendency despite the fact that the freight market has now entered into a strong downward corrective phase. Given that we are now closing in on the Christmas holidays in the West and the Chinese New Year is close to follow in the East, buying interest is likely to wain slightly, though this will depend on the sales candidates that come to market (with some buyers keeping a key eye for any serious sellers proposing high spec units) while to what extent buyers expectations will lean towards the idea that prices are yet to increase further and that should be an urgency to act now rather then later. On the tanker side, there was a big focus on the large crude oil carriers, while with the recent fast paced firming in freight rates there could be further buying interest out there for the price levels being quoted&rdquo .

last friday 2B reversal 0.80 to 0.83. This morning already up 0.85 with barely 1000 volume. looks like the rooftop 200MA could be broken soon. the ship is about to set off again. All aboard !!!
