Unfortunately, it turn out to be a blood bath. Well, we all din expected a merger come with a kill that will actually turn into a death bed for this counter SH. Have been busy today selling a big chunk of my holdings at 14+cents (most of it bought at average 15+cents after last year' s rights issue). Took the loss to make sure I raise enough funds to fully subscribe to the $0.08 rights. Pretty painful. The rights issue did caught me off guard. Did not expect them to go for this nuclear option so soon after securing the S$500 green loan from DBS. Temasek is more than happy to go along. I guess the contritbutory factors are that they need the extra cash to provide for the Transocean financing and also working capital when they secure the cambo and witsing fpso and other mega deals. This shall be my last conment until after the rights issue when I might recommence my daily purchase program. Trade safe and adious!

CGS-CIMB analyst Lim Siew Khee suggested that long-term Sembmarine shareholders take up the rights, saying that a combined entity would be &ldquo the only mega yard in the region&rdquo , and backed by Temasek to boot. However, Ms Lim warned that investors should be prepared for near-term challenges such as widening losses at the combined entity. The analyst has a target valuation of 22.6 cents on Sembmarine.

Many people are disillusioned that the fate of the company ties with the oil price. Even if oil price is $100 or higher, it does not mean that SMM could turnaround. The result of SMM is due to the mismanagement of the company, just like Hyflux. After the merger with Keppel Marine, Temasek may delist or sell the new entity as it did in NOL and Chartered Semi.
