yes, all those are possibilities. but we can eliminate the mom and pop retailers as the ones for sure. the marking of short sell order is a mandatory rule under sgx, there might be a few who might not adhere to it but if caught they would risk their licences so most wouldn' t. yesterday' s volume matched the volume on friday and those high volume days, so most would have been cleared out yesterday. yeah, charoen wouldn' t waste his time doing due diligence etc if he wasn' t serious, ocbc just believe its worth more, probably cos they know the company inside out. even in the due diligence, not everything will be disclosed. |

Single big buy ups and single big sell downs may not meet anything. Sometimes it is simply BBs/prop traders redistributing. Sometimes it is big retail investors buying/selling. Also, brokers have told me the marking of sell orders on SGX is useless, most traders don' t adhere by it. So it' s also not indicative of short interest. These few days may be under pressure due to margin call, although most margin calls should have been done yesterday. Your view on this stock will depend on the likelihood of a future takeover offer. I' m also shocked that Chaoren didn' t agree to the deal, it' s probably that the price demanded by OCBC and Chaoren' s offer price was simply too big a difference for a compromise. And IMO I don' t think Chaoren would lowball that much, so I guess OCBC was asking for quite a bit. |

very simply, you add up all the small lots and see if they match the big lots. for a 1 x 200 if you they are buying through 10 lots you shouldl see a 20 x 10 but there isn' t. and if you want to accumulate, if you do so using 10 lots how long do you need to take? im not saying that they will only use big lots to buy up, they will mix and match but the big lots buy up tell you it won' t be a retailer. which retailer buys up 200, 300, 500 lots at a go?   |

sorry for stupid question - why do we assume that bb will buy in 100/200 lots when they could be buying 10x10 or 20x10 lots? They could cut to pieces to hide track no? |

tiger beer and APB was the best example that only strategically and nationally sensitive sectors will be protected, as in all other countries, such as power, defence, telecommunications. the government can call on the army to move anywhere so land in that sense is secure. if you control the power generator etc, you might be able to shut down the power any time. |

once it is sold to the Thai...you will never get it back....so it is important that we Singapore Companies think carefully and beyond profits..otherwise we Singapore will be left with nothing but many assets owned by foreign entities....That will be a time when Keppel, CApitaland and UE may become one family. |

hey, ibanalyst, i really appreciated (and many here probably do, but I won' t speak for them) your fundamental analysis and it is good to have a well grounded thesis prior to investment. sometimes, i think it is good to joke to pass time while we wait for the knife to bounce back up
A technical analyst and a fundamental analyst get together one evening for dinner. As the evening wears on and many bottles of wine are consumed, the fundamental analyst slams his hand down on the table and accidentally hits his steak knife which was sitting on the edge of his plate. The steak knife flies straight up and the two analysts watch as the knife reaches its apex and begins to fall. Both of them follow it with their eyes and the technical analyst realizes it is headed straight for the hand of his dinner companion. He watches in horror as the knife lands point first on the hand of the fundamental analyst, pinning his hand to the table. The technical analyst, now in shock asks why he did not move his hand. The fundamental analyst replies, &ldquo oh, I thought it was going to go back up&rdquo . old joke cut and paste from http://www.stockhouse.com/opinion/independent-reports/2007/12/05/high-oil-prices-lift-some-names

for a convincing argument, the analogies and statements put forth have to contain both logic and facts. while this is all conjecture, the best we can do is to make an educated guess in light of the non-clarification by the relevant parties. my analysis is based on the exact wording of the news articles or figures from the annual reports and follows a logical and progressive path as many would agree with.
