If monthly cash burning is indeed 1B, means, SIA still have revenue of nearly 2B, cause gross profit/loss means revenue - spending. Thats means 2.1B - 3B to get '"-1.1B"
Unlikely SIA still make so much revenue, 2.1B last 3 mths with few flights only.

https://www.investopedia.com/terms/b/burnrate.asp
" The burn rate is typically used to describe the rate at which a new company is spending  to finance overhead before generating positive cash flow from operations. It is a measure of negative cash flow. The burn rate is usually quoted in terms of cash spent per month. For example, if a company is said to have a burn rate of $1 million, it would mean that the company is spending $1 million per month."

@vicloo I am not sure my understanding is 100% correct but I think that although the operating loss on the P& L for the quarter shows loss of only $1.1B but the " cash burn rate" of $900m to $1,000million per month is still possibly correct because that' s the actual cash that the company needs every month to pay off its monthly loans installment repayments, salaries and many other monthly commitment expenses...... I know this sounds pretty scary.

To save SIA - they should really start retrenching and cutting the big fat salaries and perks of SIA Management and Flight Crew, especially Captains.  They have no where else to go to, as many are unwilling to relocate and the world is currently awash with hordes of Pilots and Cabin Crew anyway. Also, easier to rehire on cheaper terms, after the economy and air demand recovers.   |

True, there are only few routes to voice out reserve spending concerns...
1st way via opposite e.g., Pritam, 2nd way by President Halimah. No other way 😁

Furthermore no advance revenue (bookings) coming in, how can the CEO run the company like this? Still no retrenchments?

I hope that they can set a limit for reserve withdrawal per govt year. Must use it with full approval from 90% of citizens, meaning that we must do referendum for tapping into our reserves. Must also draw a plan as how to return the used reserve within X years. | ||||

Sgp reserve also can' t support such burn rate for long. The sooner SIA retrench, the more sustainable it can be. Mai Tu Liao.

I think 900mil per month is not real it only reports 2q loss to be 1 1.1B not 3B. I think 1 of main reason 75% of most SIA still pay by gov... If not could be 900mil per mth. So I think SIA will retrench a lot of employees if 75% pay subsidy from gov stops...

OK. So I should sell the APPL and buy SIA? :D  I don' t look at share price that way (not high or low). I see how we are living the year 2020 and 2021, what I am doing, what I use everyday, how my life has changed so far, and likely change to a new form in a permanent way.  Are we going to suddenly not use the smartphone, or use the apps, or use the computer, or the zoom, or the masks! ?  And then am I travelling? Do I see myself travelling in the next few months, and I am beginning to see that I may not travel until next summer or even after. I am still holding 2 hotel reservations and 3 airline tickets which i keep shifting and shifting from May to August to September, and now i don' t see how I am going to ever use them. September flights just got cancelled again.    So i am keeping my APPL !\I i' ll let you know again here when the split stock comes back to $300. I hope SIA is still not $3 then, because I am also holding MCBs !  Also how to compare APPL and RMG, same profits, same cashflow, same share float, market cap, competition field, etc etc ??  let' s only compare apple to apple - pun intended. :)  Don t get me wrong. I love SIA, and I am loyal to SIA. I love aviation, I love flying, and before I am active in SJ, i was active in aviation forums, making lots of miles, and I didn' t care about actual $$$ to buy condos or cars, i am happy sitting in Suites, that' s all i need.  But reality is,  that industry is currently completely decimated, i also have to find new hobby. So here, trying to make more money instead of making more miles. Good thing i guess!  I am vested with SIA (MCB). Still believe it is one of the stronger one to survive, but I don' t think it' s the right time to buy into the SIA story right now.  Near the bottom, likely, i don' t think it can get worse than this, already 90% cut schedule, how much lower can it get, but my issue is the width of the bottom, not its depth.  I hope they start to take the bitter medicine of letting go of baggage, that day, the share price will rocket and if any is invested, may be a good time to sell. Because it will dip back to its natural level and the wide bottom situation.  Vaccine will improve their prospects, but it' s not going to make any recovery V or U-shape. Vaccine is not an overnight thing.  That wide bottom is becoming more and more real to me as days pass.  Personally very sad, but cannot lose money is more important.
