At the exact same time, he' s sending 2,200 Marines toward Kharg Island.

 

Both things are happening simultaneously. Right now.

 

And if you understand what Kharg Island is &mdash you' ll understand which one to believe.

 

Kharg Island is a small island 24 kilometers off Iran' s coast in the Persian Gulf.

 

It doesn' t sound important. Until you know this one fact:

90% of Iran' s entire oil exports flow through Kharg Island.

 

Not 50%. Not 70%.

 

NINETY percent.

 

It is the economic heart of the Iranian regime. Without it, Iran' s government has no money. No money means no missiles. No missiles means no war. No war means the Strait of Hormuz opens.

 

That' s the logic.

 

So here' s what' s actually happening on the ground.

 

The USS Tripoli &mdash an 850-foot amphibious assault ship carrying F-35 fighter jets, Osprey aircraft and 2,200 Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit &mdash was redirected from exercises near Taiwan and is now heading to the Middle East.

 

A US Navy reconnaissance drone was spotted orbiting Kharg Island this week.

 

A second amphibious assault ship, the USS Boxer, carrying another 2,500 Marines from California, has had its deployment accelerated and rerouted to the Middle East ahead of schedule.

 

A US official told the Associated Press &mdash on record &mdash that the US military could " take out Kharg Island at any time."

 

Trump himself called Kharg Island Iran' s " crown jewel."

 

Senator Lindsey Graham wrote publicly: " Seldom in warfare does an enemy provide you a single target like Kharg Island that could dramatically alter the outcome of the conflict."

" We are getting very close to meeting our objectives as we consider winding down our great Military efforts in the Middle East."

 

- Two amphibious assault ships. 

- Nearly 5,000 Marines.

Here' s the strategy - The US can' t end this war on his terms without reopening the Strait of Hormuz. 

 

It can' t reopen the Strait without breaking Iran' s stranglehold on it. 

 

It can' t break that stranglehold without either seizing Kharg Island &mdash or destroying it.

 

Destroy it? Oil prices go to $200. The global economy breaks.

 

Seize it? 2,200 Marines land on Iranian soil. The war escalates into something completely different.

 

Walk away? The Strait stays closed. Gas hits $5.

 

Seizing it looks like the only possible scenario unless there' s another option which we' re not aware of.
