MM2 ASIA ENTERS INTO AGREEMENT TO ACQUIRE MAJORITY STAKE IN TECH START-UP, SET TO LAUNCH OTT PLATFORM IN 2016 SINGAPORE, 18 December 2015 &ndash mm2 Asia Ltd. (&ldquo mm2 Asia&rdquo , &ldquo mm2 全 亚 影 视 娱 乐 有 限 公 司 &rdquo or collectively with its subsidiaries, the &ldquo Group&rdquo ), today announced that they have entered into an agreement to acquire a majority stake in Millinillion Pte Ltd (&ldquo Millinillion&rdquo ), a tech start-up developing interactive solutions for digital users globally.  With mm2 Asia acquiring 466,667 new ordinary shares in Millinillion for an aggregate amount of approximately S$350,000, mm2 will own 70% of the issued share capital of Millinillion (the &ldquo Investment&rdquo ). This marks mm2&rsquo s first step into the digital media and technology sector, after its acquisitions of Vividthree Productions and cinema businesses from Cathay Cineplexes Sdn Bhd earlier this year.  Millinillion is a company specialising in developing Business to Consumer (B2C) mobile applications and digital interactive solutions for clients. The company is headed by Mr Mark Chua, a professional trained in information technology, with over 10 years of experience in managing digital media companies and digital solutions for both government and private clients.  Acquiring Millinillion will be mm2&rsquo s first step for investing in an online technology company that will offer future B2C commercial opportunities for the Group. mm2 and Millinillion will jointly develop a series of mobile applications in data-based marketing, music and industry talent pool management. ATF: mm2 Strikes Deals With Hitmaker Jack Neo, Fox Int&rsquo l Channels SINGAPORE &ndash Singapore-based production house MM2 Entertainment revealed multiple projects at the ongoing Asia TV Forum & Market.In association with local superstar Jack Neo&rsquo s JTeam productions, the company will co-produce the fourth instalment of the popular &ldquo Ah Boys To Men&rdquo franchise.The movies look at different disciplines within Singapore&rsquo s National Service, a compulsory two-year full time military service for citizens and permanent residents. Neo said that his team hasn&rsquo t decided which discipline the fourth film would tackle and that permits take time because of the checks  involved due to the franchise&rsquo s military theme.Neo said that the film would cast newcomers. &ldquo It is good to get more new faces. It is good for the industry,&rdquo he said.The plan is to release the film in 2017, timed to coincide with the National Service&rsquo s 50th  anniversary.Also due in 2017 is another JTeam-mm2 collaboration set for the Chinese New Year Holiday frame. &ldquo That Girl,&rdquo the Neo directed segment of &ldquo 7 Letters,&rdquo the anthology film by seven Singaporean directors that was made to commemorate the country&rsquo s 50th  anniversary, proved to be popular. Neo is now planning an extension of that story and expand it to feature length. It will be a love story, Neo said, &ldquo Everybody loves love stories these days.&rdquo Neo hasn&rsquo t attempted the genre before as, &ldquo I am not a romantic man.&rdquoAt the same event mm2 CEO Melvin Ang announced an initiative where three Singaporean directors would be funded to make three features on location in Hong Kong within the next two to three years. The idea is for them to gain experience of the best practices in the Hong Kong film industry, Ang said. &ldquo It is early days. We don&rsquo t have a commercial model or scripts yet,&rdquo Ang said.Ang also announced the continuation of Movie Makers 2015, a short film competition organised with Fox International Channels and mm2 Entertainnt  to develop and groom new talents in the Singapore film industry. 2015 winners received cash prizes and Canon cameras and one of the top three will get an opportunity to direct a feature for mm2. The 2016 edition will take place in Singapore and another as yet undecided Asian city.    |
