Cheong of UOBKH downgrades Aztech to ' hold' with softer second half John Cheong of UOB Kay Hian has downgraded Aztech Global from &ldquo buy&rdquo to &ldquo hold&rdquo after the company reported lower-than-expected 2QFy2026 earnings. For the three months ended June, the manufacturer recorded earnings of $5.4 million, down 36% y-o-y but up 35% q-o-q. This brings 1HFY2026 earnings to $9.4 million, which is just over a fifth of his projections. Aztech attributes the lower numbers to lower volume ordered by customers, amid stiffer competition. For the current 2HFY2026, the company expects softer customer demand. While it has maintained its pipeline of new products, the ramp-up and revenue contribution from these projects are expected to be gradual. Cheong notes that contributions from these projects in the near term will not fully offset the lower order volume from existing customers arising from increased competition. &ldquo The operating environment is expected to remain challenging amid ongoing macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainties, evolving trade dynamics, cost pressures and limited visibility on customer demand,&rdquo says Cheong. Given this view, Cheong has lowered his earnings estimates for the current FY2026 by 54% and for the following FY2027 and FY2028 by 41% and 28% respectively. Cheong has also lowered his valuation multiple from 20x FY2027 to 19x, leading to his new target price of 73 cents, down from $1.25. Aztech Global shares, as at 11.33 am, is down 15.06% to 71 cents. |

Aztech reports 1HFY2026 earnings of $9.4 mil, down 41.7% warns of ' softer' second half Aztech Global has reported earnings of $9.4 million for its 1HFY2026, down 41.7% y-o-y, on lower revenue of $151.4 million, down 18.4%. The manufacturer attributes the softer numbers to reduced volume from existing customers, lower interest income and a forex loss. The bottomline was lifted by a one-off disposal gain of $2.5 million. Aztech plans to pay an interim dividend of 0.5 cents per share, equivalent to a payout ratio of 41.3%. In the half year, the company secured 13 new projects, adding four new customers in security, consumer and renewable energy segments. During the period, 13 projects progressed to commercial production. These developments form part of Aztech' s ongoing customer and revenue diversification efforts, with contributions expected to build gradually over the medium term. However, Aztech warns that the current second half will be &ldquo softer&rdquo .
