ComfortDelGro unit wins A$200 million bus tender in New South Wales, Australia
TRANSPORT operator ComfortDelGro Corporation : C52 0% (CDC) on Tuesday (Jul 4) said its indirect subsidiary bagged an outer-metropolitan bus contract worth A$200 million (S$180.3 million) in New South Wales (NSW), Australia.
The eight-year contract starting in July 2024 is for Region 7. It covers the NSW Central Coast, which includes The Entrance, Gosford, Wyong and the surrounding areas.
ComfortDelGro has, since February 2017, operated its Australia bus services through ComfortDelGro Corporation Australia (CDC), a wholly-owned subsidiary.
The contract was awarded to Red Bus CDC NSW, a 50:50 joint venture between NSW bus operator Red Bus Services and CDC NSW &ndash a CDC subsidiary.
CDC NSW operates three other bus service contracts in the Australian state&rsquo s outer metropolitan areas &ndash in Regions 7, 8 and 11. It also operates two contracts in Metropolitan Sydney in Regions 4 and 14.
ComfortDelGro expects the new contract win to create employment opportunities as CDC NSW expands its operations. The group estimates an increase of 150 employees to reach a workforce of over 2,500 across NSW.

Earnings contribution from ComfortDelGro' s latest bus contract is a ' good signal' : DBS
ComfortDelGro' s joint venture in Australia has won an eight-year bus contract worth A$200 million ($180.5 million).
The contract is to operate Outer Metropolitan Bus Service for Region 7 in New South Wales in an equal partnership with the current operator, Red Bus Services.
This deal is estimated to add 3-4% to the land transport operator' s revenue from Australia, which contributed 18% of the company' s overall turnover for FY2022 ended Dec 2022.
ComfortDelGro had earlier won two other contracts in Australia. The three contracts are worth some A$1.9 billion.
From the perspective of DBS Group Research, earnings contribution from this latest contract is " relatively immaterial" but a " good signal" that ComfortDelGro C52 0.85% is active and successful in gaining new contracts.
" We maintain our positive view on the counter on the back of our expectations that we will see sequential improvement in its operations and its attractive valuation," says DBS on July 4, as it maintains its " buy" call and $1.62 target price.
When ComfortDelGro reports its 1HFY2023 ended June results in mid-August, DBS expects y-o-y and q-o-q improvement on the back of easing energy prices and improved mobility.

Because everybody knows that BBs already pumped up from 1.02 and are in the process of unloading at 1.19 / 1.20. Anyone who chase now would better be sure that BBs will buy back from them at even higher prices.
Today this 'good news' has come out in the Chinese papers. Lets see whether it will make the uncles chase. If they are willing to chase, BBs will pump and sell to them 🤣

This is a high-risk counter because the same reasons that caused it to drop forever are still present. The recent announcement of 70c platform fees and joining a Chinese company to set up 50 EV charging points didnt change anything.
1.20 to 1.25 remains a big shorting band. |

Actually, I feel all these are just market sentiment, even post the ~15-20% rally, the price is still at depressed levels (kinda like ringgit and jpy). To see a sustained rally and stabilizing with yearly growth, we still need to see improving fundamentals from solid earnings in a month' s time. I personally believe that this will happen by my own research, but I am not sure about what is happening in the UK/Aus. I think for people that just want to trade this by technicals, now is a good time to take 50% profit with another target at 1.25. *vested with 500k shares avg 1.52, minus all dividends its around 1.45 |

End of June is the time for window dressing. A lot of stock prices can move up and down during time. Different fund managers have different preferences in dressing up their fund reports to look good for their investors or stakeholders. Sometimes, hard to find a reason. Like SIA suddenly lose 5% and ISDN also not spared although these were hot favourite stock that were very bullish. Sembawang and Keppel have a different story. RHB raises ComfortDelGro target by 12.5% on strong earnings outlook
RHB Research has raised its target price for ComfortDelGro : C52 -3.33% by 12.5 per cent to S$1.35 from S$1.20 and reiterated its &ldquo buy&rdquo call on the stock, it said in a report on Friday (Jun 30).
The rise in target price came after RHB increased its earnings forecast for FY2023 to FY2025 by 2 to 3 per cent, as it expects a revenue boost from lower taxi rental rebates and the introduction of a new platform fee for taxi and private-hire bookings on ComfortDelGro&rsquo s platform.
&ldquo We continue to expect earnings to gradually improve in H2 2023 amidst benefits from the annual indexation of overseas bus contracts,&rdquo said RHB analyst Shekhar Jaiswal.
The new target price implies a potential upside of 15.4 per cent from ComfortDelGro&rsquo s trading price of S$1.17 as at 1.40 pm on Friday. The counter was down 2.5 per cent or S$0.03 at the time.
RHB&rsquo s optimistic outlook is based on the indexation of higher operating costs in the UK improved rail ridership in Singapore and the potential to raise commission rates for taxi bookings. ComfortDelGro charges only 5 per cent while Grab and Gojek levies 20 per cent.
The research team is also positive on the eventual reduction of incentives offered to taxi drivers in China in Q1 2023. It also noted ComfortDelGro&rsquo s recent foray into green energy, taxi, and vehicle inspection businesses in China.
The company had entered into a strategic partnership with Chinese transport enterprise Guangzhou Public Transport Group to develop transport-related green energy businesses, including investments in automotive electric charging and swapping stations, and ancillary solar photovoltaic and energy storage systems.
In April, the two companies also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate as partners in China&rsquo s taxi business. Separately, ComfortDelGro signed a MoU to work on a Chengdu vehicle inspection centre with Chengdu Hexintong Vehicle Inspection Company.
