Del Monte Pacific defends solvency after SGX flags US$787 million deficit [SINGAPORE] Del Monte Pacific has defended its ability to remain a going concern, pushing back against regulatory concerns over its working capital deficit and thin cash reserves. Responding to queries from the Singapore Exchange (SGX) about its financial year 2026 results, the dual-listed canned food producer said on Wednesday (Jul 8) that its operating business remains &ldquo fundamentally sound&rdquo , and that its liquidity issues are tied to its capital structure, not deteriorating operations. The exchange had flagged that Del Monte Pacific carried a net capital deficit of US$589.9 million as at Apr 30, with current liabilities outstripping assets by US$787.2 million. The company ended FY2026 with just US$8 million in cash. Management dismissed the US$8 million figure as a snapshot of its working capital cycle rather than its full liquidity, pointing to its available revolving credit facilities. The company noted that its current liability position is heavily skewed by US$452.7 million in revolving bank borrowings that are renewed on an ongoing basis. To support its solvency claims, the board cited the performance of its primary cash-generating unit, Del Monte Philippines. The subsidiary reported a 43 per cent jump in operating profit to US$153.6 million in FY2026, while net profit rose 37 per cent to US$103.1 million. Debt obligations loom Despite the operational growth, the clock is ticking on the company&rsquo s debt obligations. Del Monte Pacific is working with an external financial restructuring adviser to finalise an integrated plan to reorganise its obligations. While one principal banking counterparty has formally waived covenant requirements through September 2027, waivers from the company&rsquo s other main lenders are set to expire in or around September 2026. The company stated that discussions with lenders are &ldquo active and ongoing&rdquo , adding that counterparties have engaged constructively and no formal notices of acceleration or enforcement have been received. The company also used the filing to provide an update on a disclaimer of opinion issued by its auditors for FY2025. The audit issue stemmed from missing financial data tied to its US subsidiary, Del Monte Foods, which had been undergoing Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. Following the US unit&rsquo s emergence from Chapter 11 in June, Del Monte Pacific stated it is now providing auditors with the necessary independent valuations and schedules to substantially resolve the issue. Fall from grace At its height in 2013, Del Monte Pacific had a market capitalisation exceeding S$1 billion. At this time, the stock was around the S$0.811 mark, pushing it to its highest recorded valuation. This record valuation occurred just before the company announced its US$1.7 billion acquisition of the US-based Del Monte Corporation&rsquo s consumer food business. At the time, investor sentiment was high due to the company&rsquo s strong performance across the Philippines and Asia, and the anticipation of the global Del Monte brand&rsquo s reunification. But the company then took on significant debt &ndash over US$1 billion &ndash to finance the buyout. Since then, the combination of high interest expenses, changing consumer habits and impairment losses from the US business has caused its market capitalisation to steadily decline to its current valuation of about S$155 million. |

Del Monte Pacific&rsquo s Q4 net profit sinks 76.9% [SINGAPORE] Canned-food brand Del Monte Pacific on Thursday (Jun 25) reported a 76.9 per cent decrease in net profit to US$10.1 million in the fourth quarter ended Apr 30, 2026, from US$43.7 million the previous quarter.  The results reflected a massive US$703.5 million impairment recognised in FY2025, which was tied to its US unit, Del Monte Food Holdings, that filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June 2025. The impairment followed continued losses at its operating unit in FY2024 and FY2025, alongside adverse macroeconomic conditions in the US, Del Monte Pacific said in a bourse filing on Thursday (Jun 25).  The group has since deconsolidated the US subsidiary, reducing its consolidated liabilities by around US$1.5 billion. Additionally, Del Monte Pacific pointed to a US$40.8 million gain from an India share swap transaction in the previous year.  Excluding these, net profit rose 3.5 times to US$10.1 million in Q4, from US$2.9 million in the prior quarter. Meanwhile, overall sales rose 11.4 per cent to US$213.7 million, driven by higher international market sales and the Philippines, where turnover grew 5.9 per cent in pesos and 3.8 per cent in US dollars to US$75.1 million.  For the year, net profit was down a slight 0.9 per cent to US$48.4 million. Sales increased 13.5 per cent to US$896.1 million.  Despite FY2026&rsquo s stronger profitability, Del Monte Pacific said the US$703.5 million write-down of its US business at the end of FY2025 led to a negative equity of US$587 million and net debt to equity ratio of -1.7 times as at Apr 30, 2026.  &ldquo The group cannot declare dividends due to its negative equity position,&rdquo it said.  Separately, the group said a US bankruptcy court in February approved a settlement and sale of substantially all operating assets of the US unit&rsquo s relevant entities as part of the Chapter 11 restructuring process. This framework will address Del Monte Pacific&rsquo s debt obligations of about US$1.2 billion.    The US court confirmed the reorganisation plan in May, but &ldquo certain minority lenders&rdquo appealed the decision.  In June, the US court denied the appeal. A US district court also indicated that it was unlikely to grant further relief. Barring any intervention from higher courts, Del Monte Pacific said the reorganisation is expected to take effect shortly.  It added that it does not expect to recover any value from its equity interests in the affected entities, which had already been fully impaired and deconsolidated.  These proceedings also are not expected to materially impact previously disclosed financials. In June, Del Monte Pacific&rsquo s indirect subsidiary completed the sale of its remaining 1.9 million shares in India&rsquo s publicly listed Sundrop Brands through a put option, generating gross proceeds of about US$14.1 million.  This will be used to support the group&rsquo s working capital and debt obligations, the group said. Shares of Del Monte Pacific closed flat at S$0.083 on Thursday, prior to the announcement. |

This one is a recovery stock. Just look at their P& L and one can see the worst is over (US operations) They are now in the process of strengthening their Balance Sheet. I would expect this stock to out-perform many others in the medium term. Used to trade around $0.40 before it crashed becasue of their US operations which have since been liquidated Afterall who does not eat their long and juicy Del Monte bananas....a household name   |

Del Monte Pacific Q2 net profit jumps six times to US$16.8 million shares touch two-month high
The improvements reflect strong operational efficiency and market demand, says the dual-listed group

[SINGAPORE] Mainboard-listed Del Monte Pacific on Monday (Nov 17) reported a net profit of US$16.8 million for its second quarter of FY2026. This marked an increase of 630.4 per cent from the US$2.3 million posted a year earlier.

The improvements reflected strong operational efficiency and market demand, the canned food brand said in its Q2 business update, ahead of its investor presentation due for release on Dec 10.

Shares of Del Monte Pacific rose to a two-month high of S$0.104 by 9.01 am on Monday, up 20.9 per cent or S$0.018 from its closing price on Nov 14. The counter last traded higher on Sep 12.

It later pared some gains to end the day at S$0.10, up 16.3 per cent, with nearly 8.3 million shares traded.

The group, listed in Singapore and the Philippines, said total sales in Q2 grew 10 per cent year on year to US$234.9 million. This was driven by both domestic Philippines and international businesses, particularly fresh pineapple exports.

Its Philippines sales increased 9 per cent in peso terms and 7 per cent in US dollar terms to US$121.7 million on higher volume and better pricing.

&ldquo Strong demand for packaged pineapple and the expanded year-round use of mixed fruits led the Philippine growth,&rdquo said Del Monte Pacific.

&ldquo Nutrition-led initiatives positioning pineapple as an everyday super fruit further strengthened consumer preference for natural, immunity-building options.&rdquo

Del Monte Pacific&rsquo s international sales grew 7 per cent to US$90.6 million, fuelled by &ldquo robust exports&rdquo of fresh pineapple. The group recorded increased sales volumes for fresh pineapple, NFC juice and frozen pineapple.

The group noted that the fresh fruit business led the growth, with a 23 per cent expansion from continued sales, and improved sales mix and strong pricing. The NFC juice segment grew 49 per cent amid higher China and Europe sales, and sales of frozen pineapple climbed 21 per cent due to a favourable product mix and strong pricing.

Del Monte Pacific&rsquo s gross margin improved by close to 700 basis points to 34.2 per cent from 27.6 per cent in the previous corresponding period, amid higher sales and lower production costs.

The group also grew its North Asia market share for imported pineapples to 51 per cent, which it said has strengthened its leading position as a fresh pineapple supplier.

For the first half of FY2026, Del Monte Pacific&rsquo s net profit jumped to US$22.3 million from US$2.7 million due to higher sales and strong margin expansion.

For the six-month period, its sales rose by 11 per cent year on year to US$438.6 million amid a 16 per cent surge in fresh pineapple sales and 10 per cent growth from the Philippines business.

Its gross margin for the half-year improved 580 basis points to 33.4 per cent, from 27.6 per cent in the year-ago period, driven by improved pricing across all segments and lower production costs from higher pineapple recovery.

Philippine Stock Exchange suspension lifted
Trading of Del Monte Pacific shares on the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) resumed on Sep 22, the day its trading suspension was lifted after being imposed on Sep 16 due to its failure to submit its annual report by an extended deadline.

The extension was required as Del Monte Pacific could not obtain sufficient appropriate audit evidence concerning its US subsidiary, Del Monte Foods (DMF), which faces bankruptcy proceedings, its independent auditor EY said.

The company submitted its annual report the following day, on Sep 17, but trading in its shares remained suspended till Sep 22 due to an audit disclaimer in its audited financial statements.

The disclaimer pertained to the carrying values of assets and liabilities of DMF and arose as auditors could not obtain sufficient evidence on the recoverable values of these.

On Sep 18, Del Monte Pacific acknowledged that an audit disclaimer in its audited financials would normally constitute automatic grounds for suspension on the PSE, but noted that the Singapore Exchange had no similar policy.

It filed a waiver request to the PSE to lift the suspension, on account of the audit disclaimer pertaining only to discontinued operations of DMF for FY2025 ended Apr 30.

It added that DMF was deconsolidated from its financial accounts from May 1, and that the consolidated financial statements of its continuing operations are unaffected and remain reliable.

Del Monte Pacific in July said it would deconsolidate DMF from its accounts, having lost control of the US unit, which filed for bankruptcy.
