Not quite added up.. price increased 11% since Jan 2014 as at July 2014 http://spendmatters.com/2014/07/14/fish-meal-prices-rise-11-percent-since-beginning-of-2014/ Quota for 2013 was 2.3 mil tons and catch exceeded.    This year  catch is about 70% of 2.53 mil tons 2014 quota which works out to  about 77% of 2013 catch..  There is a shortfall of about 11% to 14% in turn of price volume though not much.. The 3rd Pervian fishmeal output reduced by 30%,  not sure how bad CF will be affected.. |

Not too bad, Lower catch compensated by price increase. Qtr to 30 June will not be too good as May had bad catch and June will be processed in July, Still believe that there is no collection enough for the push.32cents will be a goo buy when fear strikes

We will need to understand why US Treasury Yield Curve is recently flattened..The 30-5 year has already cut below the 2011 low ***************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** Post by stockpicker on Jul 27, 2014 at 1:15am This article is interesting when it showed a flattened 30y-5y yield chart indicating that the yield gap btw the 30-year and 5-year bond has narrowed to a level only seen in 2009. What is interesting is not about the narrowing yield gap but what happened when it started to narrow..
![]() If we examine the attached 30-5 yield chart, we could find that the yield gaps were also low around Aug 2011 and June 2012 but nothing happened although the US market took a tumble then however, the market and the yield gap recovered soon after. It is believed that Bernanke' s Operation Twist in Sept 2011 and QE3 infinity in Sept 2012 were behind the scene at that time. Now we found another low in the 30-5 yield curve.. Wonder what will Yellen do this time.. Read more: http://pertama.freeforums.net/thread/308/dj-economy?page=11#ixzz39aAAT9Ps |

Just a correction.. US' s debt to GDP is even lower than SG.. but this has nothing to do with CF.. CF' s debt is almost twice as much when compared with the average and  in dangerous level. so the rating of B2 from Moody.. Olam in same boat but it has the backing of Temasek.. when interest rates up mid next years.. all these companies will suffer.. Now US market is news negative   good news is bad and bad news is muted..

This is another milestone and Pasific Andes is moving in the right direction. There is going to be a divide between MSC and Non MSC. Simply put Fish caught in the wild vs Aquaculture or Organic vs Genetic Modified When the certification is carried, what do you the price of wild fish going to be ? Higher and Higher .. Enjoy fishing ....

More and more news are being reported. What' s next ...Pacific Andes focusing on enhanced traceability for MSC
August 1, 2014, 9:23 am
Pacific Andes International Holdings is set to roll out a traceability redesign project in 2014, allowing it to track any fish product, after matching Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) chain of custody requirements. The Hong Kong-based group' s traceability systems were initially " redesigned" in 2013 to demonstrate compliance with MSC requirements, the company noted, in its latest sustainability report. Since then, " traceability, storage and record-keeping systems prove that only seafood from a certified fishery carries the MSC eco-label, and that this fish is kept separate from non-certified fish" , said Pacific Andes, which is the world' s largest producer of pollock fillets, from its vast Hongdao processing complex in Qingdao, China. The plant has capacity to produce 60,000 metric tons of fillets. The company has since expanded this traceability system and plans to continue to develop it. " While the initial purpose was to fulfill the requirements of the MSC standard, we further expanded this traceability redesign project to all our products," the company states. This year, the company plans to expand its system to involve a more sophisticated mapping exercise developing further barcoding per species, per area, enabling it to rely fully on an electronic system to map and trace any fish product, it said. Pink salmon forms 49.1% of Pacific Andes' MSC wild catch supply, while pollock represents 28.4%. Then cod is 16.2%, and chum salmon, haddock, yellowfin sole and black cod make up the remainder.

Tassal is one of the World' s largest Aquacultural firm resided in Tasmania. The Tasmanian salmon producer  helped   Pac Andes doubled its earnings when it sold its share for AUD$96 mil in May.. Worldwide Aquaculture Market is Growing at a CAGR of 2.0% from 2014 to 2020 Grand View Research Latest Report Sayshttp://www.prweb.com/releases/Aquaculture_Market_Share/Industry_Trends_Players/prweb12050413.htm The global market for aquaculture is expected to reach USD 202.96 billion by 2020, according to a new study by Grand View Research, Inc. Aquaculture includes farming of aquatic organisms such as mollusks, fish, crustaceans and other aquatic flora and fauna. Increasing consumer awareness of health benefits associated with seafood and growing consumption serves as a key driver for development of the market. In addition, the market demand is expected to be further fuelled by the lack of naturally available varieties owing to extensive fishing. Rice-fish culture is expected to serve as key growth opportunity for this market over the next six years.   |

That is the way to go.. aquaculture.. Pacific Andes conducting mariculture trials in Namibia
Pacific Andes International Holdings sees aquaculture in Namibia as a possible next step in its efforts to cement its presence  there  through its 49%-owned company  Atlantic Pacific Fishing (APF).
APF  is conducting trials for a mariculture farming operation, the company revealed in its sustainability report. It seems this could change the face of its focus in Namibia, considering the employee base  needed would multiply  APF&rsquo s employee base of 69 many  times over. &ldquo It is envisaged that this project, if successful, will create land-based employment for over 600 Namibian workers, including women,&rdquo the company said in its 2012-2013 Sustainability Report. |
