I don' t think anybody rules anything out today" . However, he added that a merger was " unlikely" because integrating the two large companies would be too challenging.

x 0   x 1  Alert Admin	Hope NOL management made a decision on the liner focus on shipping and either split the port terminal plus intermodal service inot another shell company or divest it away while retaining the service through sub contracting. APL is one ofthe last few shipping companies that still had a comprehensive network of logistics for their customers while charging freight rate below market. IF all noticed most of the money making liners are purely commercial driven providing basic service and very low reliability with the exception of maesrk that undergo ships reconfiguration a few year back at a cost of US$3.8Biliion. Top 3 liners are all either commercial or privately owned carriers that make money while money losing one is all linked to state government. To return to profitability, time  for NOL to break free of state control and go commercial.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Hi All I have been a passive follower of this thread for some time. It is interesting to see various types of investor for NOL some trading, long term investors, opportunists etc. The behaviours of  various investors are interesting to observe. As for me, I was an investor in 2003 when the price was 75 cents. As I was younger, inexperience and also a speculator, I exited when the price went up to around $1.10. At that time, I thought it was a good gain but it turned out that the NOL went to $4.00 in about 2 years and peaked at $6.0 in 2007/08 when the shipping industry went through an upturn. Since then, the industry is going through an adjustment period due to overbuilding of capacity and decraesing freight rates.  I have reinvested in NOL at $1.04 about 2.5 years ago and my take of the matter is that the freight rate has bottomed out and NOL had readjusted its position through cost control and is ready to charge forward. My expectation is that the worst is over for NOL especially with the oil prices at the current level. The share price going forward will charge forward like a bull  without a leash. Given time, target price for me is $2.50. Enjoy the ride Angkukueh

Might see a repeat of 2009 when it is doomday senario when US economy almost collapsed, QE activated and ship quickly surge more than double in 2010 in a matter of months. Being through Hell and now it time to soar to the Nine Heaven. Ship consumed like 2.4Mil tons of bunker oil in 2014, 40% plunge in bunker price worldwide = US $500 mil saved annually, just that would help ship returned to profit. bunker price IFO380 =US$600 average in 2014, this year is like US$350+ average.
