Competition is cut-throat when you have nearly every telco bargaining to get a peice of your customers base. Its only about just starting (have you been approached by Singtel guys asking if you a starhub customer?).

Recall how Virgin Mobile gave up urs back.  It' s no guarantee that a 4th player will make it.  Afterall, competition is cut-throat (not like the public transport business where the cash just rolls in cos they can simply  slaughter the cows like us) n what if it fails n they lose money big time?  Will they find some subtle excuse to slaughter us even more?    Recall how some players lost big time in the property mkt?

I agree. If SMRT can win the bid, it is potentially a lucrative revenue stream. With Singapore gearing towards a smart nation, and with more people increasing their mobile expenses, I don' t see how such investment by SMRT would be bad. All 3 telco companies have high share prices, and on increasing price trend.

 Alert Admin 		Well said, mind their own biz will be the best biz model for SMRT. After all SMRT should be focus on serving the commuters well.

In any case, MyRepublic who knows the telco biz better should stand a better chance.

Agree. Currently, it' s still uncertain if they will win. The risk is there....it' s gonna be speculative. If they do win, I don' t think the price will be at current level though.

News only, somemore quite speculative at its best.

My reading is simply that SMRT got spare money, anyways earning much already. Not much to look at fundamentals wise, purely a technical trade at this moment in time. How market reacts to the news, is upto the market.

SMRT may be good for medium term investor who' s willing to take a bet or day trader who wants to take advantage of the euphoria.

Technically bullish and potential to go 1.72 within this week. Key hurdle 1.70. Loss stop : 1.64.
