Clearer Version (Analysis & Comparison- NOL vs Cosco vs Samudera Shipping)
1)Why Samudera Shipping is nothing when compared to NOL? NOL (APL) ranked #10 is greatly in value as compared to Samudera Shipping ranked #42. In fact, Samudera Shipping stock is overpriced in terms of its small capacity as compared to the great potential & capacity of NOL. Even if Samudera Shipping is making mini profits, it is still far in comparison in Container Shipping Market! 2) Why NOL is better than Cosco? 1stly, it do not need bail out funds of $4.9 billion like Cosco. Is there a need to illustrate how can Cosco manage to pay such huge sum in future? Definitely, NOL is the strongest container shipping available stock in SGX! http://www.alphaliner.com/top100/ |

NOL moved up peerlessly from $0.95 to $0.965. Cosco moved down weakly from $0.53 to $0.51. (Actualized that NOL is better than Cosco in 1 day, with substantial results in comparsion) * Even History of NOL survivability is far better than Cosco. Cosco even need China Merchant Bank $4.9bn loan. NOL is stronger than Cosco in every way! http://www.tradewindsnews.com/finance/343528/China-Cosco-seals-funds

SINGAPORE (Jan 19):  DBS Vickers  has upgraded  Neptune Orient Lines  ( NOL could be in for " better luck" this year as prices of bunker fuel have fallen from US$600 per metric tonne to less than US$300 in slightly more than six months, according to DBS Vickers analyst Suvro Sarkar. " Given that NOL&rsquo s liner business consumes about three million metric tonnes of bunker fuel per year, this implies significant cost savings," he wrote in a note. While part of the fuel-price decline will be passed through to customers, " the fact that NOL has lagged its peers in terms of fuel efficiency and margins in the past means there is more room for improvement, given the razor thin margins involved" , he said. Against this backdrop, DBS Vickers has increased its 2015 earnings estimate for NOL to US$203 million from US$46 million. Business for NOL is also likely to pick up as the transpacific route, from where it gets almost half of its liner revenue, gets busier, according to Sarkar. " While industry freight rates will likely continue to be volatile in 2015, the Transpacific route could hold up better than the Asia-Europe lane, with US economic growth expected to be steady and consumer demand potentially getting a fillip from lower gasoline prices." NOL shares rose 0.5% to 95.5 cents at 10:44am (0244 GMT).  |

Oil price rout turns the tide for loss-making NOLNOL might finally make a profit this year. The ongoing oil rout will turn the tide for loss-making Neptune Orient Lines. According to DBS, lower bunker fuel prices could finally swing NOL into profitability, after three consecutive quarters of loss. NOL booked massivelosses for the first three quarters of FY14. It was hit with a $97.9m in the first quarter, followed by a $53.7m loss in the second quarter, and finally a $23.1m loss in the third quarter. According to DBS, NOL could be in for better luck in FY15, with bunker fuel prices declining from US$600/ MT to less than US$300/MT in a little over six months. &ldquo Given that NOL&rsquo s liner business consumes about 3m MT of bunker fuel per year, this implies significant cost savings. It has to be kept in mind though that part of the fuel price decline will be passed through to customers through lower fuel surcharges and bunker adjustment factors on long-term contracts. However,  the fact that NOL has lagged its peers in terms of fuel efficiency and margins in the past means there is more room for improvement, given the razor thin margins involved. This will be aided by the return of 19 expensive chartered-in ships in 2015. We thus revise up our FY15 net profit expectations from US$46m to US$203m,&rdquo stated DBS. DBS further noted that the sale of NOL&rsquo s logistics dovosopm could provide a one-off catalyst, with NOL expected to book a one-off gain of up to $332m (US$250m).  - See more at: http://sbr.com.sg/shipping-marine/news/oil-price-rout-turns-tide-loss-making-nol#sthash.dBfmqvPn.dpuf |

just kinda curious.. we know that when oil price drops, those companies that requires oil as part of its operating expenses like airline, shipping, transportation will benefit from it.. so we kinda easily & straightfoward say that their profit & profit margin will increase.. but it' s also possible that ' cos of this drop in oil price, now all the transportation/shipping/airline are able to reduce their price to compete with their competitors (like airline tix, chartering rates, delivery fee), and so, does that really mean we will see a lot increase in their profits as well? |
