NOL Destiny (song lyric- english ver)
Life always has some dust, laughing at my prediction. Behind always has some trap, holding back my wings. The night no matter how arrogant, Look at the Sunrise direction, There will always be- One Sun. I don believe NOL currently, Is all the glory, I don believe leaving the stock market now, Result will be not hurting, The tears no matter how long, Is dependent on my prediction foresight is how strong, From the bottom Flying Upward. I born because of my prediction, I live because of my prediction, The sky is broad and wide, How to choose? If there is happiness, There is no wrong I born because of my prediction, I live because of my prediction, Honorable & Upright, Telling myself, I will decide, What is my prediction made of? If tomorrow the world is going to sink, I will use my smile to exchange for the scenery, Even if there is only 1 last breathe, my prediction will continue. Leaving behind one person to stand freely in the trading realm. Enduring hardships, After crying, there will be laughter, To prove one prediction existence, Only when losing prediction, Will my soul be sold. I born because of my prediction, I live because of my prediction, The sky is broad and wide, How to choose? If there is happiness, There is no wrong.

The Edge
NOL not likely to be profitable until 2016, says Deutsche Bank
SINGAPORE (Nov 21): Neptune Orient Lines huge debt load is worrying and its 3Q2014 net loss of US$23 million ($28.8 million)
was below expectation considering that the September quarter was a peak season for the industry, says Deutsche Bank.
The shipping line fell into the red in 3Q2014, reversing a net profit of US$20 million a year earlier, as lower freight rates and
container volumes hurt revenue.&ldquo With seasonal weakness in rates settingin, we think it prudent to cut our earnings forecast&rdquo , Deutsche Bank analysts Joe Liewand Sky Hong said in a note. &ldquo 4Q-1Q is generally the slow season for container shipping.&rdquo
They now expect NOL to incur a bigger loss of US$211 million in 2014 than the US$151 million they had previously forecast,
adding that the companys net gearing of 213% at end-3Q2014 is a cause for concern.Their projection for a loss in 2015 has
been reduced, though, to US$21 millionfrom US$49 million &ldquo as we take into account lower bunker fuel costs&rdquo .
The company is not likely to return to the black until 2016, they said, expecting it to achieve earnings of US$116 million,
aided partly by lower fuel expenses. &mdash by Frankie Ho

Wonder what measures that NOL claimed to be looking into has been out in place to mitigate the congestion problem.
Five more carriers revive US West Coast congestion surcharges Mark Szakonyi, Associate Managing Editor | Nov 21, 2014 2:03PM EST Four carriers today joined Mediterranean Shipping Co. in announcing congestion surcharges on cargo heading from Asia to U.S. West Coast ports. Carriers? push to implement surcharges ranging from $800 to $1,000 per 40-foot container on shipments at the port of origin starting Nov. 26 comes just days after at least nine container lines postponed similar surcharges. The backtracking came after angry importers and U.S. regulators questioned how carriers could cite longshore labor slowndowns as justification for congestion surcharges when gridlock was already heavy a month ago. In their surcharge notices to customers, the five carriers ? Hanjin Shipping, Hyundai Merchant Marine, MSC, NYK Line and Zim Integrated Shipping Services ? cited slowdowns or labor difficulties for the need to try to recoup additional costs. The International Longshore and Warehouse Union denies it?s engaging in slowdowns and blames the gridlock on ocean carriers no longer providing chassis to customers and increasingly larger ships overwhelming marine terminals. ?The surcharge is being applied to address significantly higher costs related to slow productivity, staffing limitations and other labor related issues which have disrupted normal port operations and lead to congestion at U.S. West Coast ports,? Zim said in its notice. Carrier and shipper hopes that the ILWU and waterfront employers soon would reach a deal were dashed on Nov. 20, when the two sides suspended coastwide labor negotiations until Dec. 2. The two have been operating without a labor contract since July 1. West Coast port congestion, particularly at Los Angeles-Long Beach, the largest port complex in the Americas, has shippers on edge. At the height of the problems this fall, some shippers were waiting up to four weeks to have their cargo cleared from LA-Long Beach docks after being unloaded from the vessel. Despite the congestion, U.S. retailers have told investors in the last two weeks that they?re confident they?ll get products on the shelves in time for the Black Friday kickoff of the holiday shopping season. But they?re far less confident they?ll be able to get goods for the rest of the holiday season. Contact Mark Szakonyi at [email protected] and follow him on Twitter: @szakonyi_joc. |

Falling bunker prices saving shipping industry $117 million daily, BIMCO says
Corianne Egan, Associate Editor | Nov 21, 2014 4:58PM EST The international shipping industry is only spending 0.1 percent less on bunker fuel than it was 24-weeks ago, but that fluctuation equates to big savings: $117 million daily. The industry-wide usage of bunker fuel sits at 257 million tons a day, a figure that cost ship operators about $149.5 billion a day as of June 1, according to shipping association BIMCO But since then, bunker prices around the world have embarked on an unprecedented 24-week slide. Since June 1, low sulfur prices in Rotterdam, supplied by Bunkervision, have dropped 30.7 percent, or $199 per metric ton. High sulfur fuel prices followed a similar trend, dropping 24.8 percent or $144 per metric ton in the same 24 week period. Both fuels haven't been priced this low since the summer of 2010. Both high and low sulfur prices have dropped over 25 percent year-over-year since Jan. 1. For an 8,000 TEU ship, the savings amount to about $20,000 per day, per ship. Ships of that size consume about 225 tons of fuel per day at 24 knots, or 150 tons per day at 21 knots, according to a study by Hofstra University. On June 1, the price to run an 8,000 TEU ship for one day would have been about $86,700. With current prices, that cost sank to $65,625 per day. The cost savings are trickling down to shippers, who are enjoying lessened bunker surcharges as a result. Trans-Pacific westbound services dropped average bunker rates by nearly 11 percent, from $575 per 40-foot container in August to $512 per FEU in November. The average bunker surcharge on the trans-Atlantic eastbound trade dropped nearly 4 percent, or $20 per FEU, from August to November. Similarly, surcharges on trans-Atlantic westbound services dipped nearly 3 percent, or $11 per FEU. The pricing drop could also affect slow steaming, an industry-wide tactic that involves slowing a ship to 18 to 20 knots in the open ocean to save fuel. Price savings could be eroded if bunker prices continue to sink, Alphaliner said. If prices sink even lower ?down to under $400 per metric ton ? ships could start using moderately higher speeds, Alphaliner said. If bunker prices dip below $300 per metric ton, it could trigger an increased speed of 21 knots or more, cutting one-way transit times by two to five days on most services, Alphaliner noted. BIMCO, however, believes slow-steaming will not go away. ?Slow steaming is expected to remain an integrated part of shipping going forward in spite of the falling prices, as bunker cost are still significant and so is overcapacity in the freight market," Chief Shipping Analyst Peter Sand said in a press release. Major oil consumers such as Europe, China and Russia have slowed demand for oil, creating an excess of supply. Extra supply is further exacerbated by increased U.S. production, some of which is being exported. As political tensions calm, Libya is also producing nearly 100,000 more barrels a day than its historical production levels. ?The drop in oil prices mirrors the disappointing development in the global GDP growth figures, where we have seen one downward revision followed by another this year," Sand said. "Despite the lower prices, bunkers remain the single most significant cost item for owners and operators." Contact Corianne Egan at [email protected] and follow her on Twitter: @CEgan_JOC. |
