Then again, this happens not because of his talk down, but merely because of market forces. However, this person would thought that it is his capability that did it, therefore will continue to do it.

I think it is very irresponsible to post such content. i cannot stand people who say things like " my friend told me" , " my friend knows" etc. These are all unsubstantiated rumour mongering. However, this post tops the rest as the author claims that he saw who and who himself. Where is the proof? Isn' t this spreading unsubstantiated information?

I guess most people would just brush it off. But imagine a green horn reading this and decided to take a gamble. Will you be responsible if things turn out otherwise?

Like what the other person said, even if it is true, keep it to yourself.

I am not vested but recent activites has attracted my attention. I am monitoring and may decide to go in. But things are so unclear. 4 months ago, before all the news, it was trading at 34-34.5 cents. Hence, at 59.5 cents, a lot of positive factors are already taken into consideration. I really need to think hard. I will not invest more than 20 lots.

Agree, agree, something is going to happen.

The share price hinted so, anyway.

It is easier to sell CSM at that time, as the production was mainly in one place.

No need to deal with Korea and Taiwan govts, like Stats gotta deal with.

Besides, STats still cleaning up the mess in Malaysia.

Will take time for things to happen.

Find it hard to agree with you. So you are saying all the subcon including ASE And TSMC are all doing dirty work ?

I can only agree it' s a tough business after many years in it. Continouus  innovation and investment are necessary. That' s what Stats is doing.

CSM failed to do that which was why the losses were so huge and keep getting bigger. But it still got sold anyway because entry barrier is very high in this industry if one starts from ground zero. Better to buy something to start with.

Stats is different, it is turning the corner now with Apple. I' m holding tight for the next few months. I believe something will happen, my experience tells me....

Do your own analysis and instead of hear say from people who do not understand the industry. It' s your own money.

Reason is Stats is not only handling the backend business of GF, it is also doing all the dirty works for GF. Dirty, thankless, very thin margin, and highly manual backend works, that is best subcontract out to loss making company like Stats.

GlobalFoundries Parent ATIC buys Chartered Semiconductor

$3.9 billion give or take a few cents

IT LOOKS LIKE ATIC, one of the parents of GlobalFoundries, made a bid to buy Chartered Semiconductor. The deal has been rumored for some time, and it is now official.

The move is a great one for both sides. and will almost assuredly mean Chartered will be merged with GlobalFoundries in short order. That will bring GlobalFoundries a lot of things it needs &ndash libraries, older processes, customers, and customer support infrastructure. For Chartered, it is cash, stability, and technology nodes that it otherwise would be hard pressed to develop.

Overall, the deal is worth $3.9 billion, $1.9 billion in cash, the rest in debt and shares. This represents a 14.2% premium over the 30-day trading average for Chartered. Compared with its standalone future, this is a very good deal for shareholders.

ATIC buying Chartered is a huge win for GlobalFoundries, and it fills several of the largest gaps in the company&rsquo s portfolio. GlobalFoundries also gets a second fab, and is handed customers that it likely would have had a hard fight to bring in otherwise. You can read the details here.S|A

Those vested in CSM in 2009 , knew that year CSM shares px is around 0.18 (in may 2009) - ? range.  Semi conductor industry was getting hit badly.........
