mini ban that Fishermen were worrying about.. http://www.undercurrentnews.com/2014/07/04/perus-anchovy-fleet-faces-new-mini-bans/ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Peru&rsquo s anchovy fleet faces new mini-bans
July 4, 2014, 5:04 pm
This week, Peru&rsquo s Ministry of Production (Produce) has established three temporary anchovy fisheries closures, due to a high presence of juveniles.
For July 4-5, Produce has established a mini-ban on anchovy catches in two zones of the Peruvian coast. Anchovy vessels cannot catch in the coast of Pisco (Ica), from the area located between between 13° 45&prime to 14° 00&prime latitude south and from 76° 30&prime to 76° 45&prime latitude west. In the region of Nor Oeste de Ilo (Moquegua), between 17° 15&prime to 17° 30&prime latitude south and from 71° 45&prime to 72° 00&prime latitude west, catches are also banned. On July 3-4, a temporary closure took place in the anchovy fishery of Supe, in Lima, located between 10° 45&prime to 11° 00&prime latitude south and from 77° 50&prime to 78° 05&prime latitude west, between 10 and 20 miles of the coast. |

This reuter report said that El-Nino in Peru is over liao.. http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/07/04/peru-elnino-idUSL2N0PF16G20140704 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Peru says El Nino threat over, waters cooling and fish returningLIMA, July 4 Fri Jul 4, 2014 7:21pm EDT LIMA, July 4 (Reuters) - The worst of the potentially disastrous weather pattern El Nino is now behind Peru and cooling sea temperatures are luring back schools of anchovy, the key ingredient in fishmeal, authorities said on Friday. Temperatures in Peru' s Pacific peaked in June, rising 3 degrees Celsius (5.4 Fahrenheit) above average levels, but have since retreated and will likely return to normal by August, the state committee that studies El Nino said. " The possibility of us seeing an extraordinary Nino is ruled out," said German Vasquez, the head of the committee. Peru is the world' s top fishmeal exporter, producing about a third of worldwide supply. The industry is concentrated along the South American country' s northern and central coast. Cold-water anchovy that swam south to escape warmer sea temperatures that arrived in April are making their way back now, Vasquez said. |

The week' s catch was surprising good, 209,000 tonnes landed which is almost the TAC figures  234,300 tonnes in the Southern Region.  Unless the TAC is lifted,  further catch beyond TAC would be illegal.

Copeinca' s outlook was positive.  Now Moody changed it to stable because   of the expected   negative free cash flow generation in several quarters over the next 18 months.    The rating remains as B2,  same as CF and Pacific Andes ==================================================================================================================================== Moody' s changes Copeinca' s rating outlook to stable from positiveGlobal Credit Research - 02 Jul 2014
Approximately USD250 million of rated debt affectedNew York, July 02, 2014 -- Moody' s Investors Service (Moody' s) has revised the rating outlook for Corporació n Pesquera Inca, S.A.C. (Copeinca) to stable from positive and affirmed Copeinca' s corporate family and senior unsecured B2 ratings. The outlook change reflects Copeinca' s weaker than expected operating performance and liquidity coupled with our expectation of negative free cash flow generation in several quarters over the next 18 months. https://www.moodys.com/research/Moodys-changes-Copeincas-rating-outlook-to-stable-from-positive--PR_303125?WT.mc_id=NLTITLE_YYYYMMDD_PR_303125 |

El Niñ o could affect the sector more than expected PERU Tuesday, July 01, 2014, 23:20 (GMT + 9)  Although the last official report of the Multi-Sector Committee in charge of the National Study of El Niñ o Phenomenon (ENFEN) predicts the presence of a climate phenomenon of weak to moderate magnitude, several specialized entities warn about its impact on the fisheries sector by the end of the last quarter of 2014. Researcher Juan Carlos Sueiro, of the Environmental Sustainability Centre of the Private University Cayetano Heredia, notes that " when El Niñ o phenomenon reaches Peru, it has a branch of positive effects and a branch of negative effects" and stresses that " the more intense the climatic phenomenon is, the greater the negative effects are." " El Niñ o" not only has economic consequences, but also social ones. When sea temperature rises, the migration of marine species takes place towards the south of the country, and one of the most important species for the Peruvian economy is the anchovy. The anchovy is the main supply for the production of fishmeal, the commodity of which Peru is the world&rsquo s largest producer. " When El Niñ o occurs, the anchovy disappears, goes away, deepens or moves away, seeking cooler water and further food, because El Niñ o also implies poorer water," explains Sueiro, the newspaper La Republica reported. http://www.fis.com/fis/worldnews/worldnews.asp?monthyear=& day=1& id=69614& l=e& special=& ndb=1%20target= |

Anchovy exports decrease in April PERU Tuesday, July 01, 2014, 22:10 (GMT + 9)  Last April Peruvian fish exports generated USD 173.1 million in revenue, representing 17.5 per cent less than in the same month in 2013, when its value was USD 209.8 million. Meanwhile, the exported volume declined by 10.9 per cent, to 91,800 tonnes compared to 103,000 tonnes shipped a year earlier. These decreases were primarily due to lower sales of fishmeal and fish oil, the Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) reported. According to the latest Statistical Bulletin prepared by PRODUCE, in April 2014 42,500 tonnes of fishmeal were exported, representing 19.3 per cent less than in the same month last year (52,600 tonnes). With respect to the value, in the fourth month of this year fishmeal was exported for USD 63.3 million, 34.6 per cent less than in April 2013, when the figure reached USD 96.7 million. http://www.fis.com/fis/worldnews/worldnews.asp?monthyear=7-2014& day=1& id=69610& l=e& country=& special=& ndb=1& df=0 |

El Nino will drive anchovy away from Peru&rsquo s coast, says economistJuly 1, 2014, 6:51 pm
Juan Carlos Sueiro, an economist and researcher at Peru&rsquo s Cayetano Heredia University  told La Republica that  a notable rise in water temperatures off the country&rsquo s coast will force anchovy to migrate south to colder waters. Mounting evidence suggests an intense El Nino weather pattern will have a significant affect on the Peruvian anchovy industry according to researchers and government officials. The country&rsquo s National Fisheries Society said the intensity of this year&rsquo s El Nino could see Peru&rsquo s overall fish exports drop by half. The anchovy fishery is among Peru&rsquo s top producing fishery in both volume and value. The 1982-1983 El Nino event caused losses of more than $3.283 billion, equivalent to 7% of gross domestic product (GDP). The 1997-1998 event resulted in losses of about $3.5bn, or about 5% of GDP, according to the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF). As for this year Peru&rsquo s Ministry of Economy and Finance said in its 2015-2017 Multi-annual Macroeconomic Framework stipulated that a strong El Nino could limit national economic would growth to about 3.5%. The country&rsquo s fishing industry could take up to three years to recover its price level. |

They are confident of the global demand for fish. They also recognise that  aquaculture has grown to cater for the steadily rising global demand for fish. Just like Esso slogan " we are drivers too" I am sure the management knows about the industry better than you and me. If you think it is an easy feat to acquire Copeinca ... you ain' t anything yet. Stay calm ...
INDUSTRY OVERVIEWGlobal Outlook: Fishing IndustryStrong Industry Fundamentals Industry growth prospects remain strong due to 3 fundamental factors. Firstly, the consumption of fish and seafood globally has continued to rise steadily on increasing health consciousness and rising living standards alongside a growing population. Secondly, this rising fish consumption is set against a backdrop of regulated supply for ocean-catches, which has been set at a sustainable and stable level of around 85 million to 90 million metric tonnes per annum for the past 20 years. Lastly, aquaculture has grown to cater for the steadily rising global demand for fish, and as such, demand for fishmeal has risen along with aquaculture production. Over the years, pricing trends for ocean-caught fish and fishmeal have remained favourable. These upward price trends indicate the resilient nature of our key products and growing preference for fish in consumer diets. |

Algae has been identified as an alternative for fishmeal.  This QingDao algae bloom was said  to have been caused by increased aquaculture farming of seaweed in the southern part of QingDao.  Between  2003 to 2008, the coastal area used for seaweed aquaculture off the coast of Jianngsu has more than doubled to 23,000 hectares.    More than 1 million tons of algae was removed by 10,000 volunteers to clear the QingDao sea coast just for the Olympic game.  http://news.bbc.co.uk/earth/hi/earth_news/newsid_8026000/8026847.stm http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2355626/Chinese-beachgoers-frolick-green-algae-keeps-returning-despite-20-000-tonnes-removed-days.html The above means that  Algae can be easy cultivated and havested and if its production can be controlled,  it can become a profitable business.    The catch of anchovy and the fishmeal production have been reducing drastically since the beginning of 1990.    Today,  fishmeal production is less than  30% of the peak in 1990.    Last year,  3 out of the 5 largest fish and fishmeal companies offered for sale in Peru alone.    Just wonder if fish and fishmeal industry  is now a  sunset industry and if CF can make it boom again.   I would start investing in CF if CF can be so forward looking and starting to  investigate or  put in money to research on how algae can be used to supplement fishmeal production and if aqualcultural farming can be a future business.     |

Argentina defeats Switzerland 1-0 Market regardless of Ngs or whoever, has a pattern and behaviour. They are also humans, certainly not God. They too are under the mercy of the Almighty. They have no control over the weather. They too need to eat, sleep and shit. Sorry, don' t mean to be crude.   General consensus is the investor expectations are growing for the second half of 2014. US definitely showing sign of growth and momentum is buliding up.
The market will be looking out for forward-looking statements which is the company future growth. The market is still flushed with liquidity and historically July is a cool time to look for undervalued stocks. Past one week has been an accumulation for the market. They have already successfully acquired Copeinca and have already consolidated the operation,   They are doing the right thing to save cash and reduce capex. This study conducted by the Canadian and Peruvian Researchers is important. For them to said " Don' t hold the anchovies : Study shows Peruvian fish worth more as food than as feed" point to the future growth of the company. We are seeing growth and profits from the fishing operation. Blanchard said " The market shall determine the shares price  " Equilibrium is POSITIVE

A simplistic view: the weather affects the catch the catch affects the selling price and eventually the shares price..... The market shall determine the shares price.
