page 69 of prospectus J& J owns 14.147 mil shares representing 2.56% before IPO. After IPO, J& JDC owns 25.020 mil shares, representing 3.31% of the company. If employee options are fully exercised, J& J would own 25.020 mil shares representing 2.86% of the company.

The results is good. The net loss reported is within expectation. Sales has grown from US$1.1 mil to US$4.7 mil, turning in a gross profit of US$340k versus a loss of US$484k previously. Unit sales has grown from 1,155 to 4,722 units. Sales and marketing expenses went up due to salaries, benefits and commission expense as a result of bigger sales force. Admin expenses went up by US$2.6mil, of which US$2.1 mil is due to IPO expenses. Finance costs of US$3mil is due to fair value loss adjustment (which is non-cash flow in nature and required by the Financial Reporting Standard) of US$2.4 mil. If one were to strip out the IPO expenses and the non-cash flow fair value adjustment, the quarterly loss would be about the same level as previously. To analyse the results of this company, the focus is not the loss as reported. First, the focus should be on the Revenue numbers ie US$4.7 mil. Secondly, one should look at the unit sales number ie 4,722 units. The idea is to watch the sales trend both in terms of value of sales and quantity of sales. It is important to observe the momentum of these 2 sets of number. If the momentum and trends continue, it means the products are gaining market acceptance and the company would be on the way towards profitability. Of course, the company needs to contain its costs too. So for now, it is (1) are the sales growing? (2) are the units growing? (3) are the average selling price being maintained? (4) are the costs being contained? |

If QT Vascular chart follows that of Biosensors soon after its IPO,Biosensors share price first doubled within 2 - 3 months, then subsequently went all the way back down to below IPO price. Market may get impatient with QT profits or new patents approvals. So there may be a chance for the share price to come down sharply while during the wait, and if there is also some nasty macro events or overall market correction. |
