Traders/investors are still taking opportunity by subscribing to more rights than they were given. 1) Applying for excess rights. It is subject to ballot that can' t guaranttee you will get what you have applied for 2) Buying rights on the market at lower price. This is effectively cheaper than current market price. If investors/traders sell many mother shares for the sake of buying the above rights, shortists will really win. Contrary to what many expected (sell all except 100 rights then apply for 1 m excess and what not), there wouldn' t be too many excess rights to fulfill their wishes. Granted, they may get some excess but surely not the huge amount they hope for. Now, after less than 3 full days, already more than 1.3 Bn rights changed hands. It' s not unthinakable to expect some 4 to 5 Bn of the rights get traded by end of 8th Sep. Excluding the more than 50% in the hands of those who will never trade their rights (eg. Temasek etc), the total traded rights is likely to exceed half of the balance tradeable. This shows that interest in the rights is very strong.
