x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Samudera Shipping-chartered vessel sinks en route from Singapore to Pasir Gudang All crew members safe group does not expect the incident to have any signifcant impact to its business or financials [SINGAPORE] A container vessel chartered by mainboard-listed Samudera Shipping : S56 -0.52% on its Singapore-Pasir Gudang service has sunk en route.  In a regulatory filing on Sunday (Jun 7), the group said the vessel, Golden Star 1, sank at about 11 pm last Friday. All crew members were safely evacuated, with no casualties.  Samudera said it was working closely with the vessel owner, maritime authorities in Singapore and Indonesia, insurer and other relevant parties on cargo recovery efforts and any necessary anti-pollution measures.  Golden Star 1 is owned and managed by a third-party shipowner, and was operating under charter to Samudera Shipping when the incident occurred.  Samudera said its liabilities arising from the incident are expected to be substantially covered by charterers&rsquo liability insurance and the vessel owners&rsquo protection and indemnity insurance.  It does not expect any significant impact to the business and financials of the group.  &ldquo A replacement vessel is being arranged to maintain service continuity on the Singapore-Pasir Gudang route,&rdquo it added.  Samudera shares closed 0.5 per cent or S$0.005 lower on Friday at S$0.955, prior to the news.

Its wholly owned subsidiary Samudera Tankers has entered into agreements to dispose the vessels Sinar Malahayati and Sinar Mendawai to an unrelated third-party buyer on an en bloc basis. With an aggregate cash consideration of US$23 million, including a 10 per cent deposit, the collective disposal is expected to yield an estimated gain of around US$1.3 million. Net proceeds will go towards general working capital or may be redeployed for fleet renewal and other investment opportunities, said the group on Wednesday (Jun 3). Samudera said that the amount took into consideration each vessel&rsquo s age and condition, prevailing market values for comparable chemical tankers and the revenue potential of the vessels&rsquo unexpired time charters. Both vessels are employed on existing time charters at the time of the disposals, it added. Assuming the disposals were completed on Dec 31, 2025, the group&rsquo s consolidated net tangible assets per share would have stood at US$1.1583 post-disposal, versus US$1.1559 pre-disposal. The counter ended 1.5 per cent or S$0.015 down at S$0.975 before the news.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Samudera Shipping&rsquo s H2 2025 profit down 30.2% at US$34.9 million special dividend proposed The decline in profit in the second half is attributed to the cost of services outpacing revenue growth [SINGAPORE] Samudera Shipping posted a 30.2 per cent drop in net profit to US$34.9 million for H2 FY2025, from US$50 million in the year before. This came despite its revenue rising 3.6 per cent to US$320.2 million, based on the carrier&rsquo s regulatory filing released on Thursday (Feb 26). The board proposed a special dividend of S$0.044 a share, and a final dividend of S$0.0215 a share, subject to shareholders&rsquo approval at the annual general meeting in April. For FY2025, net profit was up 8.3 per cent to US$76.7 million from US$70.8 million in FY2024. Revenue for FY2025 rose 13.8 per cent to US$605.7 million from US$532 million. Earnings per share for FY2025 stood at US$0.1426, up from US$0.1317 the previous year. The decline in second-half profit occurred as cost of services outpaced revenue growth, rising 14.4 per cent to US$269.1 million. The group cited higher charter-hire costs for a larger container fleet, higher amortisation of docking costs, and increased maintenance for its gas carriers. For the full year, container volume handled rose 7.9 per cent to 2.1 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs,) following the introduction of new services and additional calls. The group expects uncertainties in the container shipping market to persist in 2026, amid evolving global trade patterns, geopolitical developments, and a complex supply-demand environment. Container freight rates have come down from previous elevated levels and are expected to remain volatile with potential downward pressure from US trade tariffs and geopolitical tensions.
