Parent company facing credit crunch, need billion not million to cover, so a big special dividend likely. DBS seldom upgrade tp before result out unless it damn confident something good pop.

It not bad news that kill stock price but uncertainty. in short the ex ceo is to be blamed for stock performance, now big boss lim taking back control.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	I get your point. For 10% shares buyback at $1.00, the co will spend 1.2B. For every 1000 shares holding, one will get $100 or $0.10/share. Price will go up say by $0.10 or slightly more but what happen after ex share buyback?  The price may drop back to 70-80 cents range if the co. continue to maintain the current 4 cents div. The sh base may have been reduced but it is still large at 10.8B after ex buyback. My earlier post mentioned that I prefer that it is spread out over 2 years and in this case the dividend is more or less maintained at 6.5 cents for the said duartion. Thus, sp will likely rise slightly above $1 and I think it should be able to stay at around that level or higher. EVEN if you are buying it later at $1, for the dividends to be paid in THREE MONTHS time, it' s still 6% yield. What' s there to compare? Now, If the total payout is higher, let' s say, take DBS Research&rsquo s hints of 0.10 cents, the yield % would be even much MUCH higher, WHATEVER PRICE YOU ARE BUYING NOW. How to compare? IF all this good news of a special payout comes true, In less than one month, GENS have the potential to go up to $1, can $58 go up to $70 in one month? Can compare? Of course, fundamentally, DBS is stronger la, and my position and holding is well documented in my thread " DBS Best of the Best Banks" . I merely using this situational circumstance to highlight that if you are going to spend,  say, $100k each on GENS and DBS, for these three months, the comparison is there for you to see...... The bank assigned the operator of Resorts World Sentosa a target price of S$0.90, 12.5 per cent above its closing price of S$0.80 on Thursday (Feb 19). DBS analyst Zheng Feng Chee said in the report earlier on Thursday that Genting Singapore&rsquo s &ldquo huge net cash position creates meaningful opportunities to unlock shareholder value&rdquo . &ldquo Although the upcoming waterfront development will require sizeable capex, our scenario analysis indicates the company has headroom to pay out S$1 billion in cash while maintaining modest debt borrowings.&rdquo The analyst noted that a material capital return plan &ndash be it through equal access offer or special dividend &ndash could excite the market and &ldquo act as a catalyst to improve valuations and unlock value for shareholders&rdquo . The bank said that it has pencilled in potentially higher gaming contributions into its forecasts. However, this could be partially offset by softer room profitability, it added. It noted that basic suite rates for The Laurus &ndash a luxury resort located in Sentosa &ndash have fallen to as low as S$630 per night, from above S$1,000 per night in October 2025. Downside risks for Genting Singapore include the potential acceleration of market share loss and a lack of defined capital return plans, DBS said. However, these should be &ldquo largely cushioned by an attractive dividend yield&rdquo of around 5.3 per cent at S$0.75, the bank said. Potential tailwinds Amid a &ldquo more constructive gaming environment&rdquo , DBS has raised its FY2026 forecasted adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation for Genting Singapore by 1 per cent. However, the bank&rsquo s caveat is that this may be partly offset by weaker room rates. &ldquo We were initially cautious amid global uncertainties, but Las Vegas Sands&rsquo positive outlook for Marina Bay Sands gives us greater confidence that gaming volume momentum can extend into 2026,&rdquo the analyst said. Moreover, with its most recently renovated assets coming online and strong earnings from Chinese New Year activities, Genting Singapore is currently &ldquo well positioned&rdquo to defend and potentially expand its market share in Q1 2026, DBS said. The doubling of China flights ahead of the Chinese New Year travel surge, which the bank thinks could translate into a meaningful uplift in gaming volumes at Resorts World Sentosa, could further support this expansion, it added.
