Analysts up Yangzijiang Shipbuilding TP after 1HFY2024 earnings beat estimatesAnalysts from DBS Group Research and Citi Research have kept their buy calls on Yangzijiang Shipbuilding after the group earnings for the 1HFY2024 ended June 30 beat their estimates.
Yangzijiang 1HFY2024 earnings surpassed DBS analyst Ho Pei Hwa estimates by 20% after its net profit surged by 77% y-o-y and 29% h-o-h to RMB3.06 billion ($564.9 million). The group shipbuilding margins, at 25.9% for the period, also beat her expectations. |

Very simple logic..... if the other non core businesses are contributing significant revenues and profits, and is impactful to the growth of the company, why talk of a spin-off or divestment ?.... I have tried to avoid speaking too much on this...... as the black market like to say, believe or not believe, let the price do the talking........ No $5 no sell, ridiculous or not ridiculous, I couldn' t be bothered....... |

Splendid results indeed. Notable takeaways: Revenue of RMB 13 Bn. The bulk from shipbuilding. About 4.5% from shipping other businesses only 0.4%. Half year profit of RMB 3.06 Bn. Net profit margin above 23% Gross profit margin for non-core businesses ranges from 41 &ndash 54%. However, absolute amount is too small to make an impact. Need to grow it a lot more before they can have a meaningful spin off. Contracts won for half year at USD 8.5 Bn. Won contracts in stealth mode. 1 qtr won only USD 3.32 Bn. Means 2 qtr won more than USD 5 Bn. 188% of full year target. Should surpass USD 10 Bn for full year easily and probably setting all-time high record. EPS RMB 77.42 c (S$ 14.28 c) NAV RMB 5.7283 (S$1.057) Net cash balance of RMB 16.2 Bn (S$2.99 Bn). Getting close to the amount spinned off! Expansion in progress: New yard and new business (LNG Terminal for bunkering or storage?). All these mean a super bright future for the company. Assuming 40% payout, surely 10 c dividend is the minimum we can look forward to. |

Hi route, long time no talk.... I think I posted somewhere that it is unlikely to give an interim ..... the question or request was posted at the AGM, and young Ren responded that he prefers to concentrate on building investment value in the company for shareholders like increasing on the ROE, also he explained there' s a need to preserve cash for the execution of the multitudes of orders....... he hinted when the right time comes, the company may return some of the cash value to shareholders, and there are many ways to do it.....later, from his comments on the importance now to focus on its core shipbuilding business, the market speculates, there may be a possibility of another spin-off....... A lot of people forget that YZJSH has a lucrative ship leasing and chartering business as well as import and export (of stranded ships, distressed ships, converting of old ships for resale etc)..... it cannot be so coincidental that immediately after young Ren commented that he needs to focus on the core shipbuilding business and rethink of his non core businesss, that YZJFH went to buy some ships to start its ship leasing business..... old Ren, even encouraged shareholders at YZJFH AGM to buy YZJSH shares at that time when it was already considered high at $1.70+++++....... surely old Ren was expecting some major development to happen?.... anyway, as with any gangster story, best is dyodddd......

Yangzijiang Shipbuilding H1 profit rises 77% to 3.1 billion yuan on robust sales, production revenue
Its revenue is up 15.3%, boosted mainly by its core shipbuilding business
Yangzijiang Shipbuilding : BS6 -4.03% on Monday (Aug 12) posted a net profit of 3.1 billion yuan (S$553.7 million) for the six months ended Jun 30, an increase of 77.2 per cent from the year-ago period.
This comes as earnings per share for the period rose to 77.42 fen from 43.69 fen the year before.
A bourse filing by the company reported that its revenue had gone up 15.3 per cent to 13 billion yuan, and attributed this to the strong performance of its shipbuilding business, which contributed to 95 per cent of the total revenue.
Revenue from this segment grew 16 per cent to 12.4 billion yuan, driven by ship construction activities. In the six months, it delivered 37 vessels, up from 31 in the year-ago period.
Revenue from the shipping segment improved 14 per cent to 604 million yuan, thanks to better charter rates.
Gross profit increased 65.1 per cent to 3.5 billion yuan, with the gross profit margin improving 8.1 percentage points to 26.7 per cent, thanks to improved contract pricing and favourable foreign exchange rate, with the depreciation of the yuan against the US dollar.
Cost of sales rose 4 per cent to 9.6 billion yuan, as a result of increased shipbuilding operations.
In the six months, it added a total of 79 new orders worth US$8.5 billion, bringing its order book to a &ldquo record-high amount of US$20.2 billion for 224 vessels, providing earnings visibility up to mid-2028&rdquo .
The company reported that its focus on building eco-friendly ships has enabled it to secure a record number of orders, as the majority of these new orders were for green vessels.
Yangzijiang&rsquo s executive chairman and chief executive Ren Letian said that the group is &ldquo well-equipped to deliver cutting-edge vessels that meet the environmental criteria of our customers and the industry&rdquo .
&ldquo We are not resting on our laurels just yet, as we set our eyes on capacity expansion to match the robust demand trajectory anticipated for clean-energy vessels.&rdquo
He added that the company is planning to convert its chemical terminal on the Yangtze River into a liquified natural gas logistics terminal/hub with storage and distribution capabilities, which &ldquo provides recurring and defensive income in the long run&rdquo .
