The market is manipulated. Market is never random. That' s a given. With the above backdrop in mind, what you described could be a case of the King Kongs of Wall Street accumulated a lot first, then screamed " 6 to 7 rate cuts" . After that pushed prices up to trigger FOMO-buying. During the upmove, King Kongs started unloading at first slowly and towards the peak, more aggressively. .

The last time FOMC screamed 3 rate cuts, market didn' t believe and priced in 6-7 rate cuts :). I will not be surprise if Powell tells Congress 3 rate cuts and the market again reprice to 6-7 rate cuts. Then S& P shoot to 5,200 (that' s what I will be betting).

All eyes on Powell' s testimony before Congress. In his testimony, he will give an update on the US economy, inflation, the strength of the job market, etc. Market watchers will be looking out for hints on whether 3 rate cuts this year is still in the pipeline and when the 1st rate cut will occur. And depending on what he says, market will then do a repricing from there. |
