Until I prompt you , you never mention SIA once.
How come COVID and the global ahutdown which would have a far larget impact on SIA didnt get your juices flowing despite you saying you are vested.

Sorry i dont mean to spam. Just trying to calm nerves. This stock got many newbies who would have jumped in at $5 - $5.20 with their hard earned money. I imagined their panic, as i did in 1991 when i first started playing markets. My advice is to equip oneself with knowledge of geopolitics. Im not keen to give predictions what price to enter or exit, because i dont want to bear the burden of being wrong.

Not many Singaporeans travel to Russia for lesiure. Hence, the impact to SIA is minimal. The biggest concern to SIA is the price of fuel. Has SIA hedged the fuel price? |

Today SIA was sufficiently well supported to make a drop back  to 4.80 seem highly unlikely barring nuclear war  So I would envision SIA rallying to 5.35 then 5.50 soon before heading to 5.70 and 6.00

I share your sentiments. Forumers here should focus SIA eg. on how far SIA will sink to ? can 4.8 support ?  what about the upside ? any charts to share ? As for the war, CNN and CNA are already doing a good job with timely analysis and updates.

I am vested in SIA and I happen to be interested in geopolitics. I am sharing my views on geopolitical events that eventually affect SIA share prices. Anything wrong with that?

According to the Russians, they have been planning this militarily & economically since 2014. Russia did not become the largest country on Earth by stumbling its way. They would have covered all bases before launching this. Its an open secret that the West intends to attack & break up Russia in any case. China next.
In fact, Nato openly announced Russia as its numero uno enemy. This despite proclaiming that Nato is a "defensive organisation".

Factually, Russia has never laid out any timeline. But the lightning speed with which it decimated the Ukr navy, airforce, airdefences within 90mins of the first salvo set false expectations among many that this will be over soon. In comparison with Operation Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, Unified Protector where "shock & awe" tactics destroyed military targets from the air (along with high number of civilian casualties & destruction), the Russian operation relied heavily on Kalibr precision supersonic cruise missiles to selectively take out military targets to which Ukr had no protection from, which accounts for the quick decimation in the opening hours.
But the Russian objective of not wanting to occupy Ukraine means that civilian infrastructure & the Ukr army cannot be destroyed because the Russians dont intend to stay & rebuild. By Western "shock & awe" standard, this suits the narrative that "Ukrainian resistance is winning against Russia" - useful for negotiations. Zelensky must have got permission from US to drop any preconditions for talks, only after Russ made the nuclear threat directed at the US. For all intent this is Russia-US negotiations using the language of force and from the position of strength.

Singapore announced sanction against Russia. Waiting to see our neighbours to do the same, followed by ASEAN. Putin is now at the end wit or cornor. He will be overthrown by his generals eventually. Putin is not Kim or Xi who has full controlled of the military.

The " unconditional negotiations" it is a bit confusing. In fact, the ukraine' s president said that they would go to the negotiations without pre-conditions. It does not mean a surrender talk. At least not yet. As many said, putin was expected a quick and fast invasion with no much resistance from ukraine and the major conflict to be over within a couple of days or so. Things did not work out as he planned and with ukraines resistance appearing stronger than expected he had to flex his nuclear muscles to try to gain some more confidence back. Unfortunately, that is not something good, not just for the people in this conflict, but for all of us...hopefully we will not get to that stage.

After the West failed to heed its warnings & red lines, Russia warned that it will create a new security architecture. Today we are seeing this warning being acted upon. The Russ military operation is taken from the same playbook used by the US to violently realign the Balkans and Middle-east. At that time, post-Soviet Russia & China were too weak to counter the US. But today the tables have turned and a resurgent China has got Russia's eastern flank covered.
The UNCONDITIONAL negotiations that Ukraine agree to after Russ' nuclear threat is a sign that all is not well with the Ukrainian resistance. It seems to be a surrender talk, or, just brinkmanship to stall Russian advances. Time will tell. |

Depends on the serious effects of the sanctions. US and its allies wanted to cut off everything from Russia. They wanted the Russians to revolt against Putin. All the strawberry Russians are crying now that they can' t access social media accounts. Imagine live without TiTok, FB, Twitter, YouTube, etc. All assets and monies frozen. Airline banned, which means that Russians can' t fly out internationally. Banned Russia exports. The list goes on.

Russia has other cards to play without needing to launch any nuclear device. The announcement yesterday to put Russia' s nuclear deterrent forces on alert should be looked into more details. The key question is: are they at the stage of fixing nuclear warheads to missiles? They have not gone there yet. Even so, there are 4 strict conditions to be fulfilled before Russia makes it legal (according to its own law) for launch. At this stage it is just Russian posturing, designed to melt the Western markets.

I see 2 things: 1/ peace talk fails, war continues 2/ nuclear war possible esp when it spillovers to nato members e.g. poland  but unlikely Above means mkts going to tank lead by dow and nasdaq. |

Look at the big bully US and its allies are doing now. They wanted to kill Russia. If Russia needs to fire just one nuclear warhead as a show of strength to the West, they better not regret. The West failed to study Chinese history. Do not force your enemy to a cornor, else you will also perish together, or paid a very heavy price. This is precisely why Iran and North Korea will never give up on nuclear arsenals. Do not trust the west. They will only care about their interests.

Ya, you are stating the obvious. Who, in the whole wide world, doesn' t know that Putin aims to hold Zelenskyy captive and to topple his government so that a puppet pro-Russia government can be formed?

The endgame in Ukraine is approaching. The combined Russ/LDNR pincer manuvre in the south east is almost completed. The bulk of the 100,000 Ukr forces have been surrounded, abandoned positions & the hardcore neoNazi fighters are digging in. Chechen forces are besieging Kyiv, letting civilians leave, negotiating with friendly commanders. Thugs armed with 10,000 AK-47 distributed free by the Ukr gov are roaming the streets, some shooting each other.
There will be a negotiated settlement, followed by ceasefire after the upcoming Zelensky talks with Russia. For this to happen, Russia will give the US a face-saving deal. |
