BBs already pumped from 1.02 to the current price and now holding it up here and ask you to buy with this announcement 🤣
One brother who believe everything BBs said sold his car when the price was at 1.50 and bought 1.50 and later 1.43 as it dropped. Now he has to baby sit so many crying babies and has no car to bring them to the doctor when they sick 😅

ComfortDelGro rises on heavy trading analysts positive on platform fee charge

SHARES of ComfortDelGro (CDG) : C52 +1.74% climbed on Wednesday (Jun 21) morning, the day after the taxi operator announced that it would implement a S$0.70 platform fee charge for rides booked via its app, Zig, from Jul 1.

As at 11.12 am, the counter was up S$0.03 or 2.6 per cent at S$1.18, with 6.4 million of its shares changing hands.

It had closed on Tuesday S$0.01 or 0.9 per cent higher at S$1.15 after 21.8 million shares were traded, following the announcement.

Analysts from DBS Research and RHB Securities were positive on the news, with DBS calling it a &ldquo positive step and good signal&rdquo that could result in a relatively material uplift in financial benefits for CDG.

Based on ballpark estimates from DBS, the move could amount to a revenue uplift of S$15 million to S$18 million &ndash potentially adding an 8 per cent boost to the research house&rsquo s forecast.

&ldquo This strategy highlights management stance to recoup costs and confidence that it should not impact ride-hail bookings significantly as this is largely in line with peers,&rdquo said DBS on CDG&rsquo s plans to implement its platform fee. &ldquo We also noted that there has been upgrades to its Zig app, as per its communication to shareholders during its annual general meeting that its app would be refreshed with new and improved features.&rdquo

Likewise, RHB believes that CDG&rsquo s service fee enhancements are likely to help the group retain its current driver pool, while attracting new drivers for its taxi and ride-hailing operations. It continues to expect a gradual improvement in CDG&rsquo s H2 FY2023 earnings, while maintaining the view that the stock&rsquo s current forward price-to-earnings valuation is &ldquo too cheap to ignore&rdquo .

DBS and RHB both reiterate their &ldquo buy&rdquo calls on the stock, with DBS&rsquo target price of S$1.62 and RHB&rsquo s at S$1.25.

Platform fee is a double edged weapon otherwise qhy the fee not $10 but 70c? Many passengers booked taxi because it had no platform fee. Now more will book PHVs because they are more easily available. When more and more people get use to taking PHVs, ZIG will become a dinosaur.
In the past, even a 10c increase in the fares could cause some to boycott.

ComfortDelGro to charge 70-cent platform fee from July 1 for rides booked via its app

ComfortDelGro said the new platform fee will also apply to limousine transfers made through its app, but not for rides booked via phone calls or text messages, or for street hails.

PASSENGERS will pay 70 cents more for taxi and private-hire car rides booked via ComfortDelGro&rsquo s CDG Zig app from July 1 &ndash one of several fare-related announcements taxi and ride-hailing companies made on Monday.

ComfortDelGro said this new platform fee will also apply to limousine transfers made through its app, but not for rides booked via phone calls or text messages, or for street hails.

It is introducing the platform fee for app bookings so that it can continue to improve the quality of its point-to-point transport services, the home-grown transport giant said in a Facebook post on Monday.

It said it has been regularly improving the CDG Zig app by introducing features and services like merchant deals, restaurant reservation and private bus charter.

During the company&rsquo s annual general meeting in April, shareholders were also told that the next version of the app would come with new and improved user features and services.

Ride-hailing firms Grab, Gojek, Tada and Ryde all charge platform fees of varying amounts, with such fees going to the companies themselves. The stated purpose is usually to maintain, improve and develop app and product features.

ComfortDelGro, Singapore&rsquo s largest taxi operator, had a fleet of 8,840 cabs as at April, or about 63 per cent of Singapore&rsquo s taxi population. It also owns about 600 private-hire cars and has around 4,000 private-hire drivers on the CDG Zig platform.

The company will also be raising the starting fares for its Premium, XL and XL Kids services &ndash a move that it said is aimed at compensating drivers more fairly.

From July 3, the starting fares for Gojek Premium, which are rides taken in higher-end vehicle models like the Toyota Vellfire and Mercedes-Benz E Class, will increase by S$6.45 between midnight and 5.59am. At all other times of the day, such rides will cost 45 cents more.

Gojek said this is to create more parity with other industry players who levy similar surcharges.

Starting fares for Gojek&rsquo s XL and XL Kids services, which allow passengers to book rides that can accommodate up to six people, will go up by 30 cents come July 3.

Meanwhile, what were supposed to be one-off increases to distance and waiting-time fares for taxi rides have been extended by another year until June 30, 2024.

This applies to all five taxi companies here: ComfortDelGro, Trans-Cab, Strides, Premier and Prime.

This temporary taxi fare hike was introduced in April 2022 on the back of soaring pump prices at the time.

With the extension, passengers taking regular taxis will continue to be charged 25 cents for every 400m travelled up to 10km, and every 350m thereafter, as well as for every 45 seconds or less of waiting time &ndash up from 24 cents previously.

For limousine and premium cabs, passengers will continue to pay a higher fare of between 34 cents and 36 cents for every 400m travelled up to 10km, every 350m travelled after 10km, and every 45 seconds or less of waiting time, depending on the taxi operator.

Temporary increases to taxi location surcharges that were introduced in 2022 have also been extended by a year until June 30, 2024.

Those taking a cab from Changi Airport will continue to pay an additional $8 between 5pm and 11.59pm and an additional $6 at all other times &ndash an increase of S$3 from the usual fee.

A S$3 surcharge for taxi rides originating from the Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and River Wonders will be extended to the newly opened Bird Paradise in Mandai from July, and the surcharge will be applied from 1pm to 11.59pm daily, compared with 4pm to 11.59pm previously.

Also being extended until June 30, 2024, are temporary fees that Gojek and Tada have imposed on passengers since 2022 to help drivers cope with higher fuel costs and other expenses.

Gojek&rsquo s &ldquo driver fee&rdquo is 50 cents for trips less than 10km, and 80 cents for trips that go beyond 10km. Tada charges a driver fee of 50 cents for rides with fares S$18 and below, and 80 cents for rides that cost S$18.10 and above.

Both platforms have said that the full fee will go directly to its drivers

What is the point of talking down Grab? If Grab closes shop today, there are Gojek, Tada and Ryde waiting. Uber who holds 27% of Grab will also come back.
Grab is expensive -- that is good for the drivers. This was why Zoom Bee lost 10,000 taxi over the 10 year period after Uber came. Its had 18, 000 in Singapore and was the world's biggest taxi company. Now??? Difficult to get a taxi --- Who still want to rent taxis to srive for a living? Now, left only the Merdeka Generation who have driven for the last 20, 30 years and are wairing to retire at the maximum age of 75. This is why you want taxi but you cant find one. Dont forget, taxi companies in Singapore are actually taxi rental companies in reality. It is not a good sign that you cant get a taxi when you need one. Dont say demand very high. Say supply very low. I can see so many brothers blowi g trumpet here. But want to blow also must kow how to blow correctly 🤣 🤣 🤣

Yes. Grab private hire model reminded me of the dot com bubble. The famous Pets.com story, lost a of money but many people buy into it. Went from IPO to bankruptcy in nine months. Maybe thats why Grab had to diversify into food delivery, finance, etc. The initial biz model not sustainable.
