Lawyers are very free and toxic in the world, making money through this kind of lawsuit. In law of contract, if the cause is unforeseeable and too " remote" , sue of negligent in this case is invalid. the lawsuit still on going because USA behind, or else who care about this kind of lawsuit since it is common understanding all investors are willing buyer willing seller and should be responsible for own decision or so call " Caveat Emptor" , " do your own diligent" .

what need to worry is Norwegian and Equinor case, the poor quality of welding for Hull & superstructure is very close, not" remote" at all. the breach of conditions are the one will kill sembmar which is poor quality of welding, welding and construction done in few 3rd party yards and herself is not qualified yard to do newbuilding. As per Law of contract, breach of conditions can be sued for compensation and contract cancellation.

Eventually, Keppel corp will discharge KOM to merge with Sembmar as new entity within a year. The lawsuit will be dragged continually.

All shall take this chance to buy Keppel corp at cheap for keppel corp subsidiaries and free shares of the new entity. No risk at all.

 Alert Admin 		Some forumners are hoping for new and profitable contracts for SMM soon.  Hopeful or hopeless?

As long as SMM suffers from bad mgmt that result in:
1. shortage of good people
2. poor workmanship
3. missing key project targets
4. having to divert half finished projects to new place for rectification

Smm is unlikely to compete successfully against China' s and S Korea' s yard.  So can win new contracts in the next few months as hoped for?  SMM has tendered for more than 10 projects.  Any good news?

SMM is trying to reassure shareholders that Equinor case will not be a problem.  It is not for SMM alone to say.  What does the buyer will say is important.  If bad workmanship, then SMM may have to pay costs. Let us wait and see.

The root cause of bad workmanship is SMM' s inability to retain good people.  Bad workmanship, shortage of skilled workers, bad project management, poor morale are the results bad mgmt, not covid.

I will not be surprised if SMM gets sued in the Johan Castberg case

Many things continue to happen in SMM and KOM.  So no certainty of merger soon although political will is there

EIG lawsuit case is for Sete petrobras corruption case.

Whatever keppel gonna, sembmar also gonna.

In fact, keppel Corp had closed the issue with petrobras but still leave this lawsuit as outstanding.

Sembmar so far no update at all.

KenzFigee, a Dutch lifting equipment firm providing services for the offshore energy industry, will deliver an electric hydraulic Ram Luffing offshore crane for installation on the HVDC offshore converter platform for RWE' s Sofia offshore wind farm in the UK North Sea.

Under the contract signed with Iv-Offshore & Energy, KenzFigee will deliver a heavy-duty 3,000 type Ram Luffing crane, suited for harsh North Sea offshore operations. 

" With its compact and robust design coupled with a limited number of moving parts, it is an ideal low maintenance offshore crane. The crane is equipped with a 40-meter long box boom which enables personnel handling and supply boat lifts of up to Hs-5m, according to EN13852-1, and platform lifts with safe working loads from 19 to 25 tonne," KenzFigee said, without sharing the financial details of the order.

To be built at the KenzFigee facility in Zaandam, the Netherlands, the crane will be shipped to Batam, Indonesia in the first quarter of 2022. Once in Batam, Sembcorp Marine will install the crane on the High Voltage Direct Current offshore converter platform being built for Sofia Offshore Wind Farm.

The offshore converter platform, at the heart of the wind farm, comprises a 17,000-tonne topside and jacket foundation structure piled into the seabed 220 km from the nearest shore.

According to Sembcorp Marine, the offshore converter platform will be one of the most powerful and most remote offshore converter platforms ever built. 

Dutch offshore installation specialist Heerema Marine Contractors will transport and install the platform, with offshore installation works scheduled for 2024.

Heerema will install the platform using    Sleipnir, the world' s largest semi-submersible crane vessel (SSCV). The vessel has previously executed work for the  Hollandse Kust    and    Hornsea 2    offshore wind farms, and most recently, just this week,    it installed the Hornsea offshore substation topsides for Ø rsted in the UK.

The 1,4GW Sofia Offshore Wind Farm, consisting of 100 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines, each with a 14MW capacity, will generate enough energy to power 1.2 million UK homes and will be one of the largest offshore wind farms in the world when completed. Located 195 km off the North East coastline of the United Kingdom, it will also be one of the farthest from shore
