Despite my positivity at the stock' s future, I must say I am utterly disappointed with its recent performance with minimal updates from the major shareholder despite their determination in turning around the company. It is also amazing how SGX queries when the price goes up fast or when large volume transactions take place with some upside, but never the opposite. |

To me, this is neither good or bad
There are pro and cons
The company is paying $8.8 millions for a 20% stake by issuing 3.5 billion shares. If this goes through, Dr JMP will be a major shareholder.
It is good to have a reputable investor as the 2nd major shareholder. The cons side is that the shares will be further diluted by an additional 3.5 billion shares
SY must have its reason for wanting to acquire a 20% stake. The obvious reason is that it will be able to help them in real estate investment and if REA is commercialised, there is profit to be shared.
REA is co-founded by Jia Jia with JMP, as such she is in the know of how useful it will be and SY is willing to pay $8.8 million for a 20% stake.

Unable to reach a valuation agreement and hence a lapse in purchase is better than purchasing without proper valuation, then writing it off later. If investors are really concerned with how the new management wants to create value and turn the company around, then this is good news rather than bad news. I do not want to invest in a company whose management anyhow inflates the value of its subsidiaries or not do due diligence in its finances, etc (i.e. not honest). It is stated clearly that the lapse in purchase is due to the valuation and nothing to do with cashflow of Shen Yao. So obviously, for those who worry on the long term prospects of SY, I would like to ask - Would you rather SY continue to pay millions when this valuation is not done properly? Would you buy something when you are not sure of its market price? Do you want to overpay for any products? |
