Gosh.  It is barely 4 months since the 2021 AGM when Oceanus announced a digitalisation strategy, and people are already crying foul that they do not see the fruits of the plan reflected in the company' s financials.  Give me a break.

As some have rightly asserted, it is a massive effort to digitalise the entire production to distribution channel, having every party' s operations onboard a blockchain or distributed ledger.  It will  not  happen in months.  It will take years.  And it will take  regulatory clarity from our various governing bodies and evolution of business process from our corporate stakeholders.

Besides, H1 2021 financial statements is not the right place to look for business updates.  You either write in to their investor forum, check news releases, or attend the next AGM.   

This is also why so many companies choose to be less transparent with its shareholders and the public.  The more you disclose of your business plans, the more people get impatient and cynical.  Try investing in a less transparent company and you will know the struggle of making an informed investment decision on lackluster information.

It is a good thing for us investors that Oceanus is so transparent and honest about its plans.  They do not need to do so.  We and many other old investors find comfort in the fact that there is a clear and transparent plan, and Peter Koh and his team has delivered again and again thus far.
 

There are many things to focus on for Oceanus, but one thing is the most urgent priority:  Helping SGX make the decision to get Oceanus out of its watchlist.  Honestly, everything else is pretty much secondary at this point.

 Alert Admin 		I just like to make the following comments and shut up. No point continuing. But those who are holding the shares. Just dont sell. You will not regret. 

1) there are many persons analysing the financial statements. Some of the comments are totaly irrelevant and misleading. They are splitting hair. What they are doing is to identity one weak tree and ask the whole forest to be destoyed.  The more we write, the more they come up with illogical rebuttals and confused the retail invesotrs. 
2) The returns vs risks are immense. 
3) Now they even brought up S chips. I strongly urged the author to direct  this question of S chip    to the SGXregco. . Whatever should not go wwrong wrong, went wrong. 
4) For retail investors  who bought shares a loong time ago. Your unrealised loss is substantial. Dont be moved by all these authors.  To be rude, I will rubssih all their commenets. Dont sell, this is the opportunity for you to recover a a big portion of your loss vis-a-vis  the amount you will get if you sell. Just treat it as if  had good hearty abalone dinner. Wait for your good harvest. Cheers

 Alert Admin 		When the stock as at 0.003c, everyone say no hope, cannot see light.. the company managed to clear off all the debt in 3 years..
Results seen after 3 years of hard work.

Just last year, before the build up phase was completed, most people still think Oceanus was just an abalone company, the financial results showed that it has been successful in restructuring the business.
Again results only seen after 3 years of hard work

I too excitied for year end results but I think I more excited to see their tech up results, which they say will take 3 years.. cos I believe it would propel the company to the next level...

This is not at all surprising or alarming to me. Oceanus distribution segment started ramping up exponentially in the second half last year. And as with all trading businesses, it is a high volume low margin % business. It is only logical rev goes up and GP margin reduces compared to first half last year. In my view, it is line with how Oceanus has historically explained its growth strategy.
 
2. HIGH OPERATING INCOME
Valid observation. But again, it is actually good to know that Other Operating Expenses did not increase in the same rate that revenue did.  Rather than focusing on this, I' m more interested in seeing how Oceanus second half would do. It seems it have managed to clock close to SGD50m second half 2020, and thats just at the start of its distribution business. So at this rate, I' m not surprised to see it far higher 2H 2021 results. Especially so when consumer goods demand usually tends to peak in second half. At that point, I dare say this " high operating income" may be considered a non-issue. 

3. TRADING BUSINESS = MORE LOANS
Yes trading business needs cash, but I really dont understand why this is so alarming. You need cash to churn goods no? It really comes to the level and speed of turnover Oceanus can achieve in second half, which is back to my point 2 above. I' m generally quite excited about this. 

  4. DIGITAL PLATFORM
This appears to be an industry disruptor and a game changer if played right. I' m not worried about timeline as of yet since this was announced at AGM recently in April.  I' m sure we all cannot wait to see this fly asap, but rome wasn' t built in a day was it?

 Alert Admin 		Agree with YoungT, anyway, the company has been achieving and exceeding all the milestones. 

Ever since CEO Peter Koh took over Oceanus, whatever he promised in AGM, he delivered.. saving the company from liquidation and cleaning up its debts and moving beyond one product one country...   

Hence, I feel like the rest of the longists, instead of speculating and running down a good team/company that has increased shareholders value over years which is factual, we should support.

Just looking at the track record, I am confident and I am vested for the long run.

 Alert Admin 		For some, they look at this when they trade and I' m not with u that it is right. Some claim they want to caution others, some use PE,some say over hype. Trader comes in when price move but at least for some others they invest, and investing in a company that' s well ran by a team that is committed. Can u denial the fact that for the past years the issues the company had when they took over had been resolved? Can u denial that fact that it is running well till date? Can u also denial the fact that u see that it has potential? 

So trader vs investor.... no right no wrong, only buy at what price, how long and with what profit....

And just thought to reproduce my earlier thoughts:

1. LOWER PROFIT MARGIN
This is not at all surprising or alarming to me. Oceanus distribution segment started ramping up exponentially in the second half last year. And as with all trading businesses, it is a high volume low margin % business. It is only logical rev goes up and GP margin reduces compared to first half last year. In my view, it is line with how Oceanus has historically explained its growth strategy.
 
2. HIGH OPERATING INCOME
Valid observation. But again, it is actually good to know that Other Operating Expenses did not increase in the same rate that revenue did.  Rather than focusing on this, I' m more interested in seeing how Oceanus second half would do. It seems it have managed to clock close to SGD50m second half 2020, and thats just at the start of its distribution business. So at this rate, I' m not surprised to see it far higher 2H 2021 results. Especially so when consumer goods demand usually tends to peak in second half. At that point, I dare say this " high operating income" may be considered a non-issue. 

3. TRADING BUSINESS = MORE LOANS
Yes trading business needs cash, but I really dont understand why this is so alarming. You need cash to churn goods no? It really comes to the level and speed of turnover Oceanus can achieve in second half, which is back to my point 2 above. I' m generally quite excited about this. 

  4. DIGITAL PLATFORM
This appears to be an industry disruptor and a game changer if played right. I' m not worried about timeline as of yet since this was announced at AGM recently in April.  I' m sure we all cannot wait to see this fly asap, but rome wasn' t built in a day was it?

Foreign exchange translation gain is $3mio.

Net Cash flow is $11 million plus, due to $16.6 mio financing proceeds.  Operating cash flow is negative $4.75 mio.

Net Cash flow from investing activities $11,000 (almost zero)..

Maybe I should write to the Co' s IR to provide more details.

Don' t anyhow speculating, if yourself is questionable can seek some clarifications from Oceanus Finance team.
