All arriving passengers at Changi Airport from India are subject to two Covid-19 tests, an antigen rapid test and a polymerase chain reaction test. They are escorted from disembarkation to their dedicated transport to stay-home notice facilities, where they will remain for three weeks. Since this month, the airport has segregated passengers arriving from high-risk places from other passengers, using different arrival immigration halls, luggage belts and toilets. Their Covid-19 tests are also done at separate health screening stations. Workers handling flights from the highest-risk countries, such as India, continue to wear full personal protective equipment. |

Much reduced spare capacity in yards from 2022 and onwards will give yards signifcantly higher margins for new projects. In February 2021, Shell confirmed plan to take final investment decision on the Whale project during 2021. First oil on Shell-operated Vito semi is expected in the second half of 2022, which is a delay from the previous plan of achieving first oil in late 2021. Sembcorp Marine is currently catching up on delays. Recent semi awards (such as for Vito and Whale) signal a shift away from South Korea for mostly smaller semis as buyers seek lower-cost options in Singapore. Compared with the ship-shaped hull market, the Chinese yards are less successful in the semi/TLP market, having little experience in this area. Although the Chinese yards have built many semis, the technical requirements of a production hull (rigs can be dry-docked frequently, but not a production unit) made it more difficult for them to enter the international market. Covid in 2020 has pushed demand forward to 2021 to 24. Buyers are returning in droves to to secure capacity as the market recovers. Yards with spare capacity to start project work in 2022 will enjoy the max. ride up. Offshore boom is now! |

Maersk Drilling sees signs of recovery as orders rebound (Reuters) Offshore drilling rig contractor Maersk Drilling (DRLCO.CO) said on Thursday it saw some signs of market recovery as it reported that orders in the first quarter were at the highest level in more than three years. The company, which had already on Wednesday lifted its 2021 earnings guidance, said it added $730 million in new contracts in the first quarter, including a $370 million contract awarded by Tullow (TLW.L) off Ghana. That was the highest level of new contracts since the fourth quarter of 2017. Maersk Drilling&rsquo s shares, which have risen 40% this year, rose 2% on Thursday. Many oil companies postponed new projects after demand dropped amid the COVID-19 pandemic last year, but investments are expected to increase as oil prices have rebounded back to pre-pandemic levels.
