They can further trim manpower cost. With covid exacerbated digital transformation, print ads dollar will continue downtrend, more advertising dollars will go digital as more and more consumers go digital...
Of cos, we will still need the 4 languages newspaper as sg is multi racial country. But it should keep cost sustainably minimum while serving the nation.

But print news paper and sell is not their income. Their income comes from the advertisement placed in the newspaper. They need to incur the printig cost 1% in order to earn the advertising revenue of say 100%. Switching from hardcopy to digital space will save some cost of printing but I reckon the ditigal ads revenue will soar

Exactly! They are in the mid of transforming the media business, but they are too slow to right size their traditional media!
Very often, when u leave consumer with no choice (prints), they will go with the only choice (digital)!

Thinking back if my memory serve me right, NOL did not adapt Fast Enough, and French Company make it profitable after buying it over. Can SPH turnaround their Media Business into Mega Profits instead .. Can Digitalization fast track the Media Transformation.. We will see in my humble opinion. | ||||

Since AGM is around the corner, maybe shareholders should start thinking to question the management how they intend to revive the business with concrete plans...... especially the media business since its pulling the profitability down..... Let' s face it, print copy of newspaper no longer important to gov, first hand hot oven baked news alert, instantly deliver news to phone/ radio/ TV/ social media plaform twitter/ FB etc. They have to take decisive action with their newspapers operation in order to turn profitable! |

SPH will soon be pushed by BBs once all the blue chips have rallied. Singtel has started the engine, so is SATS. SPH is a lagger which needs some patience. |

Based on nothing left stuck at the bottom big caps.. SPH will start to get the attention. All money losing entities rebounded. The only one left for any bargain hunter is SPH. 10-20% upside potential here.. Just keep watching from this level 1.02. lets go! |
